Location:

Headland, ALPay: Starting at $16.00/hr+ (depending on experience)Schedule: Typically 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM. Hours may extend to 9:00 PM or later during peak season and based on business demands.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and dependable Seasonal Scale Operator to support daily operations at a busy agricultural facility during peanut season. This position is responsible for operating inbound and outbound truck scales, managing high-volume data entry, maintaining accurate crop documentation, and ensuring product integrity throughout the process.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, performs well under pressure, can manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously, and is comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate inbound and outbound truck scales, accurately weighing vehicles entering and leaving the facility.

• Verify, record, and maintain detailed crop and load information.

• Enter high volumes of data into company systems with speed and accuracy.

• Create and maintain load tickets, batch records, and other required documentation.

• Ensure crops, lots, and customer information remain properly identified and separated to prevent product mix-ups.

• Receive customer orders and enter information into tracking and inventory systems.

• Monitor scale activity and coordinate truck flow throughout the facility.

• File paperwork and maintain organized records for audits and operational tracking.

• Answer phones and professionally assist customers, truck drivers, and visitors.

• Communicate effectively with drivers, production personnel, and management regarding load status and documentation.

• Identify and resolve discrepancies in paperwork, weights, or load information.

• Support additional clerical and operational duties as needed during peak season.

Required Qualifications

• Previous data entry experience required.

• Ability to type a minimum of 30 WPM.

• Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.

• Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.

• Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

• Comfortable making decisions and working independently.

• Strong communication and customer service skills.

• Proficiency with computers and common office software.

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous scale house, logistics, agricultural, warehouse, transportation, or shipping/receiving experience.

• Experience working with inventory tracking or load management systems.

• Experience handling high-volume data entry while maintaining accuracy.

Work Environment

• Fast-paced seasonal operation with periods of high truck traffic.

• Frequent interaction with truck drivers, customers, and facility personnel.

• Requires maintaining accuracy and organization while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Candidate must be able to remain calm under pressure and ensure all documentation and crop information is processed correctly to prevent costly errors.
