Job Description

BAE Systems FAST Labs™ innovates science, technology, and engineering breakthroughs for some of the toughest technology challenges in the defense, aerospace, power and propulsion, and security industries. This research and development (R&D) business, within BAE Systems’ Electronic Systems sector, collaborates with business areas across the company’s global enterprise to develop and implement advanced technology capabilities in the areas of advanced electronics, autonomy, cyber, electronic warfare, and sensors and processing.

Sensor Technologies (ST), one of the FAST Labs’ Product Lines has established itself as a market leader in the development of Multimodal Sensing technologies. Within ST Product Line, the Multi-spectral Equipment (MSE) Technology Area imagines, designs and develops disruptive multi-modal sensing and response capabilities by fusing our advanced EO/IR and RF technologies via novel processing architectures. MSE is seeking senior level scientists to create the future vision of our integrated Multi-modal Sensing Strategy.

Senior principal scientists are personnel who make a significant contribution to and lead 1) in the design, development, execution and implementation of research projects, 2) applying scientific principles and concepts to the development of prototype capabilities, 3) contributing to external publications and/or invention disclosures, 4) contributing to proposals and technical reports. This position reports directly to an MSE Technical Group Lead and can be based out of our Merrimack, NH or Austin, TX. Each position will require virtual and in-person collaboration with customers and staff across BAE Systems ES facilities.

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.
