Job Overview:

Job Title: Scientific Data Specialist – Biologics Discovery (LIMS & Protein Engineering)

Location: Spring House, PA (100% Onsite Mandatory)

Employment Type: Long-Term Contract

Experience Level: 1–3 Years

Domain: Large Molecule Therapeutics / Biologics Engineering / R&D Operations

Position Overview

We are seeking a Scientific Data Specialist with a background in molecular biology, protein biochemistry, or bioinformatics to join the Biologics Engineering and Function group in Spring House, PA.

This role is 100% onsite and serves as the operational link between laboratory scientists and enterprise informatics platforms. The specialist will lead the data entry, validation, and registration of large molecule therapeutics (antibodies, bispecifics, recombinant proteins, and plasmid constructs) into an enterprise LIMS database repository. A primary focus will involve working with sequence-level data, including in silico processing of amino acid sequences, point mutations, and construct variants, alongside assisting discovery teams in drafting and refining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for new system workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • **LIMS Data Registration:

** Accurately register biologic entities, antibody constructs, expression vectors, and experimental metadata into the new enterprise LIMS platform following established data integrity standards.

  • **Sequence & Mutation Processing:

** Support in silico bulk data ingestion, annotation, and verification of amino acid sequences, variable region mutations, and protein engineering constructs.

  • **Quality Assurance & Verification:

** Audit incoming scientific submission packages for sequence fidelity, metadata completeness, and data consistency before formal cataloging.

  • **SOP Authoring & Workflow Optimization:

** Partner with laboratory leads and discovery informatics to develop, refine, and document new registration SOPs, guidelines, and best practices.

  • **Scientific Cross-Collaboration:

** Act as the primary liaison for wet-lab researchers across Oncology, Immunology, and Neuroscience to resolve sequence discrepancies, ambiguous nomenclature, and missing data parameters.

  • **Reporting & Auditing:

** Track registration throughput, monitor data cleanliness metrics, and support data curation and migration initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • **Education:

** Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, or a related Life Sciences discipline.

  • **Experience:

** 1–3 years of hands-on experience in laboratory operations, biologics discovery, scientific data curation, or R&D database entry.

  • **Work Arrangement:

** Willing and available to work 100% onsite in Spring House, PA.

  • **Database & Informatics Experience:

** Hands-on experience working with scientific database systems, electronic laboratory systems, or LIMS.

  • **Domain Knowledge:

** Strong understanding of large molecule therapeutics (monoclonal antibodies, fusion proteins, or recombinant DNA concepts).

  • **Technical Communication:

** Excellent organizational skills with the ability to write and update scientific SOPs and technical documentation.

  • **Software Proficiency:

** Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (large dataset handling, formulas, lookups).

Preferred / High-Priority Qualifications (Manager Highlight)

  • Practical experience or coursework in protein engineering, antibody sequence design, or structural biology.

  • Hands-on familiarity with in silico bulk processing of amino acid sequences, protein alignment tools, or mutation mapping.

  • Prior experience using platforms such as Benchling, Genedata Biologics, Dotmatics, or Spotfire.
