SCADA Engineer

Job Summary:  

To support manufacturing engineering and production operations with the design and implementation of Agility SCADA systems. The SCADA Engineer is responsible for the exchange of information between an enterprise SCADA system and production equipment controls, including recipe management, real-time equipment monitoring, tracking of process history and part data. This job requires an individual proficient in PLC and HMI programming, network communication, and database design for logical organization and efficient querying of data. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To design and implement an enterprise SCADA system
  • SCADA systems scalable to a global, multi-site operations model
  • Exchange data from various sources to control and monitor the real-time status of production equipment
  • Track part and process history at each stage of a production process
  • Centralized recipe management of equipment physically distributed across sites
  • PLC and HMI programming to collect work center data and events
  • To prepare and maintain documentation of the SCADA system, including hardware, control tags, PLC and HMI programming, and backend programming
  • To plan and implement changes using a structured change management process
  • To support manufacturing engineers in defining controls related requirements of an equipment specification
  • To support MES engineers with data required to perform analytics on business processes
  • Successfully complete assigned tasks within the stated cost and schedule
  • Work as a member of a project team

Education, Certification & Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor degree in computer science, software/computer engineering, or similar experience
  • Experience working in a regulated industry (i.e. aerospace, automotive)
  • A minimum two years of engineering practice 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • A person skilled in designing and implementing new SCADA and database systems (Inductive Ignition experience preferred)
  • Proficient in networked database systems, and relational data structures (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, Oracle)
  • Proficient in computer programming (e.g. SQL, Python, Java, R)
  • Practical experience with ERP systems
  • Practical experience with the ISO/TS 16949 Quality Management System
  • Practical experience with AIAG APQP and PPAP processes
  • Familiarity with the principles of lean manufacturing
  • General computer skills and proficiency with standard office software
