Position: Saw Operator
Location: Itasca, IL
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Pay: $20–$25/hr
Hours: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (Overtime up to 20 hours/week – 5:00 AM – 4:30 PM preferred)
Start Date: ASAP
About the Opportunity
A growing manufacturing company in the Itasca area is seeking an experienced Saw Operator to join its production team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced fabrication environment and enjoys working with precision cutting tools to support the build of custom machinery and enclosures.
The team is expanding due to a rapidly increasing workload — especially in the booming data center sector — and offers long-term stability and excellent overtime opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Operate a horizontal band saw (preferably Clausing Kalamazoo or similar models)
Interpret blueprints, work orders, and cut lists to perform accurate cuts
Set up saws for different materials, thicknesses, and specifications
Verify measurements using tools such as calipers, tape measures, and squares
Ensure all cuts meet required lengths, angles, and tolerances
Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency
Collaborate with other team members and contribute to overall workflow
Qualifications
Required:
4–5+ years of experience operating horizontal band saws
Experience in metal cutting within a fabrication or custom machinery environment
Strong knowledge of tolerances and measurement tools
Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings
Willingness to work significant overtime hours
Preferred:
Prior experience using a Clausing Kalamazoo band saw
Background in OEM or high-mix/low-volume production environments
High School Diploma or GED
