Job Overview:

 
The SAP Technical Lead shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
 for leading technical design, development, implementation, and maintenance of SAP systems and solutions within the organization. This role collaborates closely with business stakeholders, functional teams, and IT support to ensure SAP solutions align with business requirements and support operational excellence. 

 

The SAP Technical Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the design, development, implementation, and support of SAP systems align with business goals and operational requirements. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and effective communication skills to deliver value through innovative and reliable SAP solutions. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Operational Technical Leadership: 
  • Solution Design: Lead the technical design and architecture of SAP solutions, ensuring alignment with business processes, technical standards, and best practices. 
  • Development: Oversee SAP development activities, including customization, enhancement, and integration of SAP modules and components. 
  • Technical Guidance: Provide guidance and support to SAP developers and technical teams, ensuring adherence to coding standards, performance optimization, and quality assurance. 
  • Configuration and Customization: Configure SAP modules (e.g., SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA) based on business requirements, ensuring smooth integration and functionality. 
  • Testing and Validation: Conduct system testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate SAP solutions and ensure reliability and performance. 
  • Maintenance and Support: 
  • Incident Resolution: Provide technical support and troubleshooting for SAP systems, resolving issues promptly to minimize downtime and impact on business operations. 
  • Upgrades and Enhancements: Plan and execute SAP system upgrades, patches, and enhancements, ensuring system stability and compliance with SAP's support and maintenance policies. 
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration: 
  • Business Alignment: Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements, prioritize initiatives, and deliver SAP solutions that meet business objectives. 
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with functional teams (e.g., Finance, HR, Supply Chain) and IT teams to integrate SAP solutions with existing systems and business processes. 
  • Change Management: Manage change requests and ensure changes to SAP systems are properly documented, tested, and implemented with minimal disruption to business operations. 
  • Documentation and Training: 
  • Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, system configurations, and support procedures. 
  • Training: Provide training and knowledge transfer to end users and support teams on SAP functionalities, best practices, and troubleshooting techniques. 
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: 
  • Quality Standards: Ensure adherence to SAP best practices, standards, and methodologies throughout the development lifecycle. 
  • Compliance: Ensure SAP systems comply with regulatory requirements, data privacy laws, and security standards applicable to the organization. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced certifications in SAP (e.g., SAP Certified Development Professional) are preferred. 
  • Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in SAP technical roles, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or lead technical role overseeing SAP Operational support and maintenance. 
  • Technical Skills: 
  • Proficiency in SAP ABAP programming, SAP Fiori/UI5, SAP HANA, and SAP integration technologies (e.g., SAP PI/PO). 
  • Experience with SAP modules such as SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, SAP BW/BI, SAP CRM, or SAP SCM. 
  • Knowledge of SAP development methodologies, tools, and best practices for custom development and system integration. 
  • Leadership and Project Management Skills: 
  • Strong leadership, with the ability to lead SAP improvements from inception to completion. 
  • Experience in managing cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders to deliver SAP solutions that meet business requirements. 
  • Communication Skills: 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Ability to collaborate with business users, functional teams, and IT support teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Physical Requirements:

He or she will be required to sit and stand for long periods of time.  He or she will be required to stoop, bend, and reach above the head and below the knees to file and retrieve data.

 

Educations, Certifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in SAP technical roles.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a leadership or lead technical role in overseeing SAP projects and implementations.

 

The following is preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. 
  • Advanced certifications in SAP (e.g., SAP Certified Development Professional).

 

 

Other:

The SAP Technical Lead is a salary position and reports to the SAP Project Manager and/or IT Director. Standard hours: 7:30am- 4:30pm (subject to management’s discretion).
