Sanitation Site Manager

Position Summary

The Sanitation Site Manager is responsible for leading sanitation operations within a food production or processing facility. This role oversees sanitation teams, ensures compliance with food safety and regulatory standards, manages daily cleaning operations, and partners with site leadership to support production goals. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong operational, food safety, and team management experience.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, train, coach, and support sanitation personnel.
  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures, sanitation protocols, and company policies.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing employee development.

Sanitation Operations Management

  • Oversee daily sanitation activities, including equipment disassembly, cleaning, sanitizing, inspection, and reassembly.
  • Ensure compliance with USDA, FDA, GMP, SSOP, and customer-specific sanitation requirements.
  • Monitor chemical usage, sanitation effectiveness, and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate sanitation schedules to support production demands.

Food Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain audit readiness and ensure compliance with all regulatory and food safety requirements.
  • Manage sanitation documentation, reports, and records.
  • Support internal, customer, and third-party audits and inspections.
  • Investigate and implement corrective actions related to sanitation deficiencies.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with plant management, quality assurance, maintenance, and production teams to ensure sanitation effectiveness.
  • Communicate operational performance, challenges, and improvement opportunities to stakeholders.
  • Support hiring, workforce planning, budgeting, and labor management initiatives.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance sanitation performance, efficiency, and cost control.
  • Implement best practices and standardized procedures.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive operational improvements.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in food processing sanitation, food manufacturing, or a related environment.

  • Strong knowledge of:- Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)

    • Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs)
    • ATP and Pre-Operational Inspections
    • Allergen Control Programs
    • USDA and FDA regulations
  • Experience with:- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)

    • Hazard Communication (HAZCOMM)
    • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
    • Chemical safety practices
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar reporting and scheduling software.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting regulatory, customer, or third-party audits.
  • Experience managing labor budgets and workforce planning.
  • Experience leading corrective action and continuous improvement initiatives.
