Position Overview

Shaw Industries is seeking a Samples Industrial Engineering Manager who will be responsible for providing strategic and tactical leadership to the Samples Division as well as other groups which support or partner with the Division (Sales & Marketing, Corporate Accounting, etc.). This individual will directly supervise Industrial Engineers and Process Improvement Engineers within Samples, partner with Samples leadership in developing strategic goals, and ensure that business process outcomes are in harmony with those goals. Focus on Sample financial systems from beginning to end, introducing innovation into the process that can provide needed business results, up to and including fundamental changes to the way that Samples expense is managed and accounted for. The goal is to drive good decision-making in the product spec, costing, procurement, and manufacturing processes of samples to make marketing dollars go farther and deliver exceptional customer experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, support, and coach IE resources in Samples Division.

  • Bring insightful thought leadership and informed analysis as a coordinator of strategic and tactical Samples initiatives, which requires the ability to understand customer and internal business partner needs and plot a strategic course to meeting these needs.

  • Create detailed business plans and financial models for the evaluation of current and potential business opportunities.

  • Develop & communicate the financial performance of Samples. Identify and communicate strengths and weaknesses and lead initiatives to improve. As necessary, review and/or assist with Capital and Expense project proposal preparation along with the development of thorough savings calculations and proper procedures for submitting projects. Includes review of Capital and Expense projects for accuracy (requires CPM training).

  • Lead Samples in Capital Budget and Annual Operating Budget strategy and preparation while collaborating with Samples Accounting.

  • Develop & lead product cost strategy within Samples.

  • Drive and review incremental & disruptive cost reduction projects and provide guidance from a financial and business justification standpoint. Also, utilize “Operational Excellence” tools including, but not limited to, Work Measurement, Six Sigma, Lean, TPM, etc. as primary drivers of continuous improvement.

  • Create and lead business analytics and data gathering efforts to support both Samples and Division initiatives.

  • Lead manufacturing capacity planning analysis through process modeling to understand and improve true costs.

  • Work with internal and external programmers/system analysts in the development of software and programs that can be used in various applications and to provide leaders with data insights that can be used to drive improvement.

  • Work with Division management on various projects, issues, and strategic planning as requested.

Other Duties:

  • May be required to fill in for Divisional IE Manager at times, delivering communication during Divisional meetings and representing Samples.

  • May be expected to travel to satellite facilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or another related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in Industrial Engineering, Accounting, or related field.

  • Experience successfully managing, coaching, and developing a team.

  • Knowledge of systems: IMPACT, TM1, PAW, Office Suite

  • Strong business and financial acumen.

  • Ability to use good judgement when sharing sensitive information.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Plant Industrial Engineering Manager experience
