Job Overview:

Role Overview

The Sales Operations Manager is a sales-embedded execution leader responsible for driving customer-facing, revenue-impacting commercial initiatives and sales process development. This role converts sales strategy into disciplined execution by owning day-to-day commercial project management and building repeatable sales processes. This position does not own compensation plans, quotas, or territories and is not commission-based. The role directly supports the Director of Sales by handling tactical execution, coordination, and follow-through, allowing leadership to focus on growth, strategy, and key relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Project Execution

  • Own and execute customer-facing commercial projects from kickoff through close-out

  • Translate sales strategy into clear execution plans, timelines, owners, and deliverables

  • Track commitments, dependencies, and milestones impacting customers and revenue

  • Drive closure and accountability across functional teams

Sales Process Development & Implementation

  • Design, document, and implement scalable, repeatable sales and commercial processes

  • Standardize how commercial initiatives are scoped, tracked, reviewed, and closed

  • Improve handoffs between Sales, Sales Engineering, Customer Service, Engineering, and Operations

  • Establish cadence routines, reporting formats, and execution tools

  • Identify process gaps and drive practical improvements

Cross-Functional Commercial Alignment

  • Coordinate cross-functional execution of sales-driven initiatives

  • Escalate risks, misalignment, or slippage with context, impact, and recommended next steps

Stakeholder & Customer Communication

  • Lead internal and external updates for assigned commercial initiatives

  • Own customer-facing communication related to schedule, scope, and deliverables

  • Prepare executive-ready summaries for sales leadership and customer stakeholders

  • Maintain organized documentation and communication records

Marketing Support

  • Support execution of marketing initiatives tied to sales priorities

  • Collaborate with Marketing on product launches, value propositions, and go-to-market efforts

  • Translate market feedback and customer insights into actionable inputs

  • Ensure alignment between sales execution and marketing messaging

Sales Operations Support

  • Support day-to-day sales operations and tactical initiatives

  • Improve visibility, predictability, and follow-through across commercial execution

  • Support adoption and continuous improvement of sales tools, templates, and tracking systems

  • Coordinate updates from internal and independent sales reps on active opportunities

  • Support pipeline visibility by ensuring opportunity status, next steps, and milestones are current

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 3–5 years of experience in project management, sales operations, or commercial execution

  • Proven ability to drive cross-functional, customer-facing initiatives

  • Strong project lifecycle management skills with a commercial focus

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Highly organized, execution-driven, and comfortable working independently

  • Adaptable in a fast-paced sales environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Sales, Sales Engineering, Marketing, or Customer Service

  • Exposure to B2B, industrial, or engineered-to-order manufacturing environments

  • Familiarity with CRM systems and project tracking tools

  • Experience with sales process documentation and workflow improvement

  • Project management coursework or certification (a plus)
