Position Purpose:

Manages sales of the company's products and services within a defined geographic area. Ensures consistent, profitable growth in sales revenues through positive planning, deployment, and management of sales personnel. Identifies objectives, strategies, and action plans to improve short-term and long-term sales and earnings.



Primary Responsibilities:
  • Establishes challenging but realistic goals for the sales team.
  • Manages an assigned geographic sales area to maximize sales revenues and meet corporate objectives.
  • Establishes and manages effective programs to compensate, coach, appraise, and train sales personnel.
  • Manages and assists in the development of new business.
  •  Communicates effectively with colleagues and management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Customer Service experience
  • Minimum 2-4 years of retail/merchandising experience
  • Experience working with a diverse group
  • High school graduate or General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
  • Basic to intermediate abilities with Microsoft Office Applications.
  • High comfort level in learning internal computer systems.
  • Must own a reliable vehicle with current insurance.
  • Performs sales activities on major accounts and assists sales representatives with independent accounts.
  •  Manages personnel and develops sales and sales support staff.
  • Reviews progress of sales roles throughout the company.
  • Develops specific plans to ensure revenue growth in all company's products.
  • Provides annual results assessments of sales staff's productivity.
  • Coordinates proper company resources to ensure efficient and stable sales results.
  • Adheres to all sales policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Assists sales personnel in establishing personal contact and rapport with key decision-makers.
  • Works to develop sales strategies to improve market share in all product lines.
  • Interprets short- and long-term effects on sales strategies in operating profit.
  • Educates sales team by establishing programs/seminars in the areas of new account sales and growth, sales of emerging products and multi-product sales, profitability, improved presentation strategies, competitive strategies, proper use and level of sales support, management of expenses and business/financial issues on contracts.
  • Reviews expenses and recommends economies.
  • Holds regular meetings with sales staff.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

1. Knowledge of the Core-Mark sales process.

2. Skill in operating various office equipment, such as a computer (laptop), hand-held order-entry device, e-Pad, online order entry program, phone system, etc.

3. Skills in problem solving and analyzing to interpret sales performance and market trend information.

4. Ability to communicate with department managers, co-workers, and business contacts, in a courteous and professional manner.

5. Ability to be task and team-oriented and focused on goal achievement.

6. Ability to work with minimal supervision.

7. Ability to check and correct own work.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

University degree in marketing or business studies is preferred; or a minimum of three years of related experience or training in the retail industry; or equivalent combination of formal education and experience.

Must have experience developing marketing and sales strategies.

Valid Driver’s License.
