What you will do:

The Commercial Finance group is a division of the Finance & Accounting function that supports and helps drive the profitable growth of Tillamook’s Brand and Commercial business. The Sales Finance Manager will serve as a critical financial business partner to the Sales organization at Tillamook County Creamery Association (TCCA). This role is responsible for providing financial planning, analysis, and decision support to drive profitable revenue growth, and will be responsible for leading a team with a financial analyst. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of the CPG industry, excellent analytical skills, proven leadership abilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively with sales and other cross-functional teams. This position will play a key role in partnering with our Revenue Growth Management (RGM) group to optimize trade spending, analyzing customer profitability, supporting strategic sales initiatives, and developing a high performing team to achieve Tillamook’s business objectives.

Here’s a day in the life:

  • Partner with Category Finance Managers to develop and manage the annual budget for the Branded & Private Label net sales, aligning with overall company financial goals and strategic initiatives.

  • Collaborate with RGM group & sales leadership to establish realistic and challenging sales financial targets and expense budgets.

  • Monitor actual vs budget performance of Branded & Private Label net sales, analyze variances against plan, and provide regular updates to the Director of Commercial Finance and sales leadership.

  • Lead the development of accurate financial sales forecasts, incorporating historical data, market trends, and sales strategies.

  • Analyze sales financial performance against targets, identifying key drivers, trends, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Develop and deliver insightful reports and presentations to sales leadership, highlighting key findings and recommendations.

  • Ensure that all sales and trade related accruals and balance sheet entries are aligned with GAAP.

  • Analyze and optimize trade spending, including promotions, discounts, and other sales incentives.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of trade promotions and recommend strategies to improve ROI.

  • Ensure compliance with trade spend policies and procedures.

  • Assess and monitor customer profitability by analyzing sales data, pricing, and trade spending against key drivers to measure effectiveness of performance.

  • Identify opportunities to improve margins with key customers and optimize pricing and promotional strategies.

  • Partner with the RGM Manager to develop customer-specific financial plans to drive profitable growth, including establish guidelines for “what must be true” to hit revenue & profit targets.

  • Prepare and deliver timely and accurate financial reports and presentations for sales leadership and other stakeholders.

  • Develop dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track sales performance and profitability.

  • Communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively to non-financial audiences.

  • Support year end audit for all Sales-related accounts.

  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making within the sales organization.

  • Analyze the financial impact of new sales initiatives and business development opportunities.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive alignment between sales strategy and financial goals.

  • Partner closely with the sales, marketing, and other relevant departments to align on financial goals/education, strategies, and initiatives.

  • Collaborate with supply chain and operations to support optimization of product flow and inventory management.

  • Foster effective communication and collaboration with finance colleagues to ensure accurate and efficient financial reporting.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of sales finance activities.

  • Streamline financial reporting and analysis processes.

  • Leverage technology and data to improve data management and automation.

Education: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.

Experience: 

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in financial analysis, preferably within the CPG industry.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience managing and developing a team.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and identify key trends and insights.

  • In-depth knowledge of financial principles, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly to a variety of audiences.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software (e.g., ERP systems, financial planning tools).

  • Experience with trade spend analysis and management is highly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of the CPG industry, sales processes, and key distribution channels.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
