About the Role

We are seeking a driven Technical Sales Engineer to develop new business opportunities and build lasting relationships with manufacturing customers throughout Suffolk, Middlesex, and Essex counties. This position combines consultative sales with technical expertise, requiring someone who is energized by prospecting, meeting customers face-to-face, and uncovering solutions to their automation and engineering challenges.

This is a highly visible, customer-facing role where approximately 70% of your time will be focused on sales activities and 30% will involve leveraging your engineering knowledge to understand customer applications and recommend solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively generate new business through outbound prospecting, road drops, networking, and customer visits.
  • Build relationships with manufacturing decision-makers and key stakeholders.
  • Identify customer pain points and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and facilitate solution discussions.
  • Manage opportunities throughout the sales cycle, from prospecting to closing.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with existing customers while expanding into new accounts.
  • Travel throughout Suffolk, Middlesex, and Essex counties to meet with clients and prospects.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of technical sales experience with an engineering degree and/or engineering-related experience.
  • Proven ability to perform outbound sales activities, including cold calling, prospecting, and in-person visits.
  • Experience managing a sales cycle, preferably within manufacturing environments.
  • Engineering education and/or hands-on engineering experience.
  • Experience with at least one of the following:- Pneumatics
    • Electrical sensors
    • PLCs
    • Robotics vision and motion control
    • Structural aluminum and extrusion systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with wiring, air valves, actuators, and grippers.
  • Industry experience within motion control or hydraulics.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a territory-based environment.
