Job Title: Sales Consultant
Department: TrailersPlus Sales
Reports To: Store Manager
Status: Hourly plus commissions
SUMMARY
The Sales Consultant (SC) is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the retail sale of trailers, trailer
accessories, and service. The position works closely with customers in the sales process, handling any questions, qualifying
details, and providing the necessary feedback. The position networks and negotiates deals with customers and uses online
customer management systems to maintain customer information and requests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to following:
● Sell trailers, trailer accessories, and service.
● Accurately represent the company’s products and discuss them on behalf of TrailersPlus.
● Develop and maintain relationships with customers via in-person visits, phone and email. Scheduling as many
personal appointments with customers as possible with provided leads.
● Identify trailers, trailer accessories, and services that will meet the customer’s needs by asking several questions and
listening to the customer’s responses and demonstrating the benefits of TrailersPlus products as they relate to the
customer’s needs.
● Know and understand all of the customer’s objections. Continue the sales presentation until all objections have been
exhausted and until the customer either makes a purchase or flatly refuses to do so, closing deals by asking for a sale.
● Understand the terms of TrailersPlus sales and collect money in the form of cash, checks, certified checks, credit cards,
financing, or approved purchase orders.
● Inform management of all critical and/or time sensitive issues in a timely manner.
● Document all customer interactions and tasks on appropriate company forms or using appropriate company computer
systems.
● Maintain the work area by cleaning and organizing as necessary, in order to promote safety, security, and a
professional appearance.
● Obtain state and city vehicle sales licenses, where required by law.
● Performs other duties as assigned.
● Responsible for generating leads in the local market.
● Ability to operate forklift and tractor. (Company certification required)
● Ability to operate power tools and welding equipment. (Company certification required)

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as six months to one year of related experience and/or training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure
manuals. Also important is the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and to speak effectively with customers or
employees. Spoken fluency in Spanish is a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Requires the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area,
circumference, and volume. The Sales Consultant must also be able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry as needed.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Knowledge of on-line computer systems is required for successful completion of the Sales Consultant job responsibilities and
assignments. Basic keyboarding skills are also needed for efficiency.
REASONING ABILITY
Must be able to solve practical problems dealing with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited
standardization exists. The position also requires the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral,
diagram, or schedule form.
