Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Sailmaker to join a well-established marine operation in Yarmouth, Maine. This is a hands-on position for someone with experience building, repairing, modifying, and maintaining sails for a variety of sailing vessels.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, repair, modify, and inspect sails

• Measure, cut, sew, and finish sailcloth and related materials

• Perform sail repairs, reinforcement work, and alterations

• Inspect sails for wear, damage, and necessary repairs

• Work with customers and the marine team to understand specific sail requirements

• Assist with sail fitting, removal, installation, and adjustments as needed

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace

• Deliver high-quality craftsmanship and attention to detail

Qualifications

• Previous professional sailmaking experience preferred

• Strong sewing and fabrication skills

• Experience working with sailcloth and marine textiles

• Ability to read measurements, patterns, and specifications accurately

• Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship

• Comfortable working independently and as part of a small marine team

• Rigging experience is a plus

• Knowledge of sailboats and sailing systems is strongly preferred
