Skylark Meats LLC., an American Foods Group Company, has an opportunity for a Safety Manager at our Omaha, NE plant.

As our Safety Manager, you will:

  • Be primary point of contact for safety issues.
  • Ensure OSHA record-keeping and reporting requirements are met.
  • Incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Follow up on accidents and injuries to ensure corrective actions are made in a timely manner.
  • Act as liaison with national, state, and local safety organizations and take an active role in activities of such groups.
  • Maintain federal, state, and local safety and environmental record keeping and permit requirements.
  • Coordinate and conduct safety training to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.
  • Primary contact person for inspections conducted by local, state, and federal safety and environmental enforcement agencies.
  • Perform industrial hygiene monitoring as needed.
  • Specify and order safety or environment equipment.
  • Facilitate safety committee meetings.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must have a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or other related physical science.
  • Minimum 3 years direct related experience in the safety field.
  • Must be certified in CPR and First Aid.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of work temperatures: warm, hot, humid, cold, wet or with slippery surfaces at varied heights in and around moving equipment and parts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Able to communicate effectively in Spanish (read, write, and speak).
  • Successful completion of 30-hour OSHA compliance course.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP).
  • Prior work experience in a food or industrial manufacturing environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiar with a variety of safety/industrial hygiene concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong investigative, analytical, human relations and communication skills. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Communicate well with diverse groups in and out of the organization.
