Safety & Health Specialist

Summary:

Seeking a Safety & Health Specialist to support overall workplace safety initiatives and compliance programs. The role focuses on promoting an injury-free environment, implementing safety improvements, and ensuring adherence to applicable health and safety standards within a manufacturing setting.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Support compliance with all applicable safety and occupational health regulations.

  • Conduct internal safety audits, analyze findings, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Collect, organize, and maintain safety-related data and training records.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of safety programs such as lockout/tagout, hazard communication, ergonomics, machine guarding, emergency response, and respiratory protection.

  • Deliver safety training sessions for new hires and current employees.

  • Participate in investigations of workplace incidents and near misses.

  • Identify and address unsafe acts or conditions proactively.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, audits, and training activities.

  • Collaborate with environmental staff to ensure cross-functional safety coverage.

Key Skills:

  • Strong understanding of OSHA standards (29 CFR 1910) and state-level safety requirements.

  • Skilled in safety data management, recordkeeping, and regulatory reporting.

  • Proficient in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Effective communication and presentation skills across all organizational levels.

  • Ability to analyze risk and promote a culture of continuous improvement in workplace safety.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline.

  • Prior experience in a safety or environmental role within a manufacturing environment preferred.
