Job Overview:

 

Hood Packaging Corporation a world leader in the packaging industry is looking for a Maintenance Purchaser to join our team in our Wilmington, OH facility.   The Maintenance Purchaser incumbent provides efficient execution of Hood Packaging purchasing activities for the maintenance department only including sourcing, negotiating, issuance of purchase orders, vendor qualification, selection, audit and supplier relationship management.  Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor provides support on the parts room, tool crib and usage of the EAM software. Support all SQF, GMP and product safety guidelines and procedures.

To bring value to Hood Packaging by performing corporate sourcing and local supply strategies to ensure the continuous supply of quality goods & services, at the lowest possible cost, at the best terms available while protecting the company's interests.

 

  1. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBLITIES

Within the limits of applicable policies, procedures and established plans, he/she has authority to take action and make decisions.  The assignment of work or delegation or responsibility does not relinquish responsibility for results.  Performance will be measured by the extent to which the responsibilities have been fulfilled.

 

Functional Responsibilities

  • Assist in assuring HACCP, GMP’s Work Instructions, and Safe Quality Food System (SQF) requirements are in compliance.
  • Perform administrative duties, as required, maintain hardcopy and electronic files, records and internal systems. 
  • Collect purchasing and consumption data for Corporate Sourcing as necessary.
  • Facilitate dialog between various plant departments and suppliers to resolve inventory, delivery or price discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with plant production, scheduling & purchasing functions as to inventory levels, requisitions, purchase order follow-up, and scheduling of material use.
  • Expedite purchase orders as requested through contact with supplier customer service, sales representatives and freight carriers
  • Monitor replenishment practices and order levels 
  • Monitor and review pricing from suppliers for accuracy with agreed upon terms.
  • Quantitatively and qualitatively monitor vendor performance in the areas of price, service and quality.  
  • Type purchase orders and service contracts into purchasing system
  • Documentation and entry of Work Orders.
  • Administration of all Maintenance part ordering and scheduling.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Regular use of computers, telephones and other types of office equipment
  • Must organize complex tasks and meet deadlines

 

 

  1. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Able to work at a computer for extended periods of time.  This employee may also occasionally walk through a plant or warehouse facility and would be exposed to moderate noise levels.     Infrequent travel may be required.     

 

 

  1. WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

  • Office in plant and entire facility

 

 

  1. QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Four-year degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of formal education and work experience is required.  
  • Minimum of three year experience in purchasing or a related field is preferred.

 

Skills

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access) and the ability to create reports and queries.  
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, oral and written communication skills.
  • Requires good mathematical aptitude.
  • Experience in purchasing or customer service setting and handling confidential information
  • Knowledge of SAP
