POSITION SUMMARY

The Pump Assembler will cut, weld, and sand pipes to prepare for assembly. They will bolt and assemble components to the plumbing system. The Pump Assembler will read through specs and blueprints to ensure it meets the customers standards. Also, they will perform water and suction tests to ensure the efficiency of the plumbing system.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Cuts, welds, and sands pipes to prepare for assembly.
  2. Bolts and assembles components to the plumbing system.
  3. Reads through specs and blueprints to ensure it meets the standards of the customer.
  4. Performs water and suction tests to ensure the efficiency of the plumbing system.
  5. Installs valves and ensures they are correctly attached.
  6. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by the supervisor to meet the needs of the department.

Preferred Experience:

  • General plumbing, mechanical, and/or fabrication knowledge.

Position Requirements:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions and do so with a positive attitude.
  • Able to read and work from blueprints/spec book.
  • Ability to identify quality issues and recognize changes within ones production process and make the needed adjustments.
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately and precisely and have a basic understanding on how to use basic hand tools, shear, and brake press.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well in a team environment.
  • You recognize the importance and adherence to all safety policies in order to promote a safe working environment, for everyone at the organization.
  • Understand the need to support the organization to work effectively by adhering to the attendance and punctuality standards and does not burden co-workers and supervisors unfairly with unnecessary and unplanned absences and lateness.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

Computer Skills:

  • Ability to learn how to run a computer terminal or PC.
  • No prior experience required (Incumbent will look up and/or enter information into a pre-formatted screen).

  • Responsibilities are frequently guided and reviewed by a supervisor.
  • They follow a standard set of instructions that describe the proper procedures for handling problems that may occur.
  • Supervisor or other personnel would handle any problems not covered by these instructions.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is in a general shop where different tasks are completed and has access to all welfare facilities. The temperature rarely varies due to the building being temperature controlled, but it can be humid at times. There is also consistent noise with all the machines that are used inside the shop which will cause a difficulty of hearing. Most of the hazards come from machines but following proper procedures should minimize risk. There is also constant dust and airborne particles due to the machines being used. Sometimes this position requires to be above floor level and work in confined spaces. This position may also include low light when working on some parts of the truck.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires standing, walking, sitting, and the use of hands for the entire shift. It can become loud in the shop with many machines being used at once. With constant noise, talking or hearing can be difficult. During shifts, some projects require the use of hands, fingers, and feet for over 60 minutes, and the use of arms, legs, back, and shoulders could be required for up to 30 minutes at a time. This position also requires reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus, and good depth perception. Part of this job may require moving between different departments. All positions require the ability to lift 50 pounds
