POSITION SUMMARY

The Welder plays a critical role in the manufacturing of Rosenbauer fire trucks by performing high-quality welding and fabrication on aluminum and steel components. This position is responsible for assembling and joining parts according to engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions while maintaining strict adherence to safety and quality standards. The Welder must ensure that all welds meet required strength, appearance, and dimensional criteria to support the overall durability and performance of the finished product.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

All employees are required to support Rosenbauer’s Mission, Vision, and Values.  The following are the essential duties of this position and do not include marginal functions that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties. The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer. 

  1. Positions, aligns, fits, and welds together parts utilizing MIG/TIG for aluminum and steel safely and effectively.
  2. Sets up and operates fabricating machines such as brakes, rolls, shears, sander, and drill presses.
  3. Constructs hosebed dividers, wheel well inserts, consoles, cabinets, EZ climbs, drop tank end caps, stocks parts, ladder racks and more. 
  4. Designs and constructs templates and fixtures.
  5. Hammers, chips, and grinds workpiece to cut, bend, and straighten metal.
  6. Verifies conformance of workpiece to specifications by inspecting completed welds to ensure accuracy, strength, and compliance with quality standards.
  7. Follows all workplace rules and safety guidelines and demonstrates safe work practices.
  8. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by the supervisor to meet the needs of the company and our members.

Qualifications


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’S):

Knowledge, Education, and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Experience using MIG and TIG welding equipment is required.
  • Welding diploma/certificate is preferred.
  • Previous applicable fabrication, welding, and brake press experience.

Skills:

Language:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Math:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Computer:

  • Ability to perform intermediate PC functions including spreadsheet formulas and functions, queries, tables, merges, and special reports.

Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic inspection tools, machining skills or related fields.
  • Able to recognize the importance and adhere to all safety policies to promote a safe working environment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well in a team environment.
  • Able to read and work from blueprints/spec book.
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately and precisely and have a basic understanding on how to use basic hand tools, shear, and brake press.
  • Understand the need to support the organization to work effectively by adhering to the attendance and punctuality standards and does not burden co-workers and supervisors unfairly with unnecessary and unplanned absences and lateness.
