Summary
The Cold Mill Plant Manager is responsible for all aspects involved in a 24/7 Roll Shop providing services to a steel mill, i.e. safety, hiring, training, quality, and production. Responsible for the profitability/loss by means of production, quality, and inventory control and efficient use of employees and equipment utilization.

What you'll do
- Manage plant and departmental operations (i.e. safety, quality, HR, sales, production)
- Responsible for overall financial expectations and plant compliance.
- Reviews production costs and product quality, and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of division.
- Responsible for developing, executing and maintaining a strategic plan for the facility.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervises employees in the Shop Operations Department.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Manages 1-4 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 1-40 employees in the Operations/Production, Administration, Engineering, Safety & Quality.
- Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also directly supervises 1-4 non-supervisory employees.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
What you'll do
- Good relationship building skills focusing on customer satisfaction.
- Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university is preferred.
- Working knowledge of the steel industry.
- Ten (10) years’ relevant work experience in a manufacturing/roll shop environment preferred.
- 5+ years of management experience – mid-level operations management and above.
- Demonstrated knowledge of precision machining equipment.
- Previous experience adhering to corporate policies and compliance.
- Demonstrated prior success in achieving results using team driven philosophies.
- Demonstrated proficiency in supporting corporate interest from remote site locations and ability to communicate and exercise very positive people skills.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Highest ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Computer Skills: Data entry, GSS or equivalent ERP system, spreadsheet and word processing software, project management software.
