Express Employment Professionals Robotics Technician
Position Summary
Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced
Robotics Technician
for a leading automotive manufacturing facility in the Detroit area. This position is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of robotic welding and automated assembly equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in robotics, electrical systems, PLC troubleshooting, and automotive manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely troubleshoot, repair, and maintain robotic welding and automated assembly equipment.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and respond to equipment breakdowns.
- Install, modify, and repair manufacturing machinery and related systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and control drawings.
- Diagnose and repair PLC-controlled equipment and automation systems.
- Respond to maintenance work orders promptly while minimizing equipment downtime.
- Inspect and maintain production equipment to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Monitor maintenance inventory and ensure required parts and supplies are available.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete required documentation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following 5S principles.
- Follow all quality, safety, environmental, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and PPE requirements.
- Ensure all machine safety devices are functioning properly.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical training in robotics, electrical systems, industrial maintenance, or automation preferred.
- Minimum of
5 years
of related industrial maintenance experience.
- At least
2 years
of experience as a Robotics Technician or in a similar automation role within an automotive manufacturing environment.
- Completion of an apprenticeship program and/or additional years of related experience is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of industrial robotics, electrical systems, PLCs, and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Experience troubleshooting automated manufacturing equipment.
- Proficient with electrical diagnostic tools, including multimeters and ohmmeters.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to obtain Forklift and Crane Safety/Rigging certifications.
- Ability to work safely at heights when required.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to work independently or within a team environment.
- Willingness to travel for training if required.
- Flexibility to work any shift, weekends, and overtime based on production needs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, reach, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift.
- Frequently use hands to handle tools and equipment.
- Ability to lift and move up to
50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels.
- Ability to distinguish colors, read detailed schematics, and maintain visual focus on precision work.
- Ability to effectively communicate and follow verbal and written instructions.
