POSITION SUMMARY

The Pump Assembler puts the water pump apparatus together by utilizing basic and specialty hand tools. The Pump Assembler manages the inventory of parts and coordinates the work schedule with the delivery of pieces. Also, the Pump Assembler will utilize basic and specialty hand tools to assemble all pieces of the water pump together.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

All employees are required to support Rosenbauers Mission, Vision, and Values. The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer.

  1. Assembles pump components together to make a working pump apparatus.
  2. Route plumbing through the truck and TIG weld plumbing together.
  3. Install generators in dunnage tubs.
  4. Fabricate brackets to hold plumbing and MIG weld them in place.
  5. Tests built pump to ensure that the apparatus meets all the specifications and quality requirements.
  6. Utilizes basic and specialty hand tools to assemble all pieces of the water pump together.
  7. Mounts pump onto the fire truck according to the specifications of the build.
  8. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma/GED.

Preferred Education:

  • None.

Required Experience:

  • TIG and MIG welding training/certification.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in with mechanical equipment.

Position Requirements:

  • Knowledge of basic inspection tools, machining skills or related fields.
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions and do so with a positive attitude.
  • Able to read and work from blueprints/spec book.
  • Ability to identify quality issues and recognize changes within ones production process and make the needed adjustments.
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately and precisely and have a basic understanding on how to use basic hand tools, shear, and brake press.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and. Work well in a team environment.
  • You recognize the importance and adherence to all safety policies in order to promote a safe working environment, for everyone at the organization.
  • Understand the need to support the organization to work effectively by adhering to the attendance and punctuality standards and does not burden co-workers and supervisors unfairly with unnecessary and unplanned absences and lateness.
  • Must be able to work professionally with customers and vendors.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a variety of variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

  • Ability to perform simple tasks, such as typing a letter and using basic commands such as setting tabs, opening and closing files, simple formulas.
  • Prior experience with a computer terminal and/or PC.

Decision Making:

  • Responsibilities are frequently guided and reviewed by a supervisor.
  • They follow a standard set of instructions that describe the proper procedures for handling problems that may occur.
  • Supervisor or other personnel would handle any problems not covered by these instructions.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is in a general shop where different tasks are completed and has access to all welfare facilities. The temperature rarely varies due to the building being temperature controlled, but it can be humid at times. There is also constant noise with all the machines that are used inside the shop which will cause a difficulty of hearing. Besides noise, some of the machines produce vibrations when being used. Most of the hazards come from machines but following proper procedures should minimize risk. This position may require contact with corrosives/oil/detergents but by following safety procedures, risk should be minimized. There is also constant dust and airborne particles due to this positions job tasks. Sometimes this position requires to be above floor level and work in confined spaces.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires standing, walking, and the use of hands for the entire shift. It can become very loud in the shop with many machines being used. With constant noise, talking or hearing can be difficult. During shifts, some projects require the use of feet, legs, fingers, and hands for over 60 minutes at a time. As, Pumps Assembler, kneeling, stooping, crouching, climbing, balancing, and reaching are required to complete job duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus, and good depth perception. During some shifts, the use of your back, shoulders, arms, and knees is required for up to 15 to 30 minutes. All positions require the ability to lift 50 pounds.
