Responsibilities
We are seeking a Controller to oversee our Ready Mix operations across our Highland, Illinois, and Memphis, Tennessee locations. The ideal candidate will provide supervision and guidance across both sites and should expect to travel regularly between the two. The position can be based primarily at either location.
- Responsible for all high level accounting and reporting responsibilities for the BUU ready mix companies to the parent company, associated management personnel, and operational management.
- Manage the accounting office activities, including supervision and direction of accounting personnel in billing, credit support, accounts payable, inventories, fixed assets, and general office procedures. Full command of general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounting systems.
- Provide technical and managerial support to local operations, to enhance the relationship between accounting and operations, and to improve practices and procedures, while fostering a culture of teamwork and cooperation.
- Monthly financial reporting to parent company and affiliates, including comprehensive review of accounts, analysis of variances, discovery of root cause analysis and direct corrective actions as necessary.
- Provide corporate variance analysis reports and comparative reports.
- Review of Month / Year-End journals and supporting documentation.
- Responsible for the fixed assets accounting systems (additions, disposals, project cost, % complete, etc.).
- Various report generation including the utilization of the GL Wand reporting tool, formatting, and uploading to the Oracle ERP database, including budgets, forecasts, and other required information.
- Approve and submit hourly payroll reports for accounting personnel.
- Coordinate the entire process of the annual budget development in coordination with management personnel, including historical data analysis, market analysis, development of future operating results based on a wide range of inter-related variables, and presentation in a clear and understandable manner to upper management. This will include intensive use of Excel worksheets, Power Point presentations, and a variety of other analytical tools and documents.
Qualifications
- BS in Accounting or equivalent experience preferred, a CPA is a plus
- 5+ years’ of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Previous experience in supervising employees
- Possess good working knowledge of ERP systems and other office computer systems such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Oracle knowledge a definite plus
- Possess good working knowledge of business processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Work well under pressure in an office environment
