Job Title: Engineer - Resident  

 

Job Summary 

 

Provide key Linamar customers with dedicated on-site engineering support. Responsible for all process and product engineering assistance related to systems and components for the customer by a Linamar Facility. .  

 

      Responsibility 

 

  • Maintain a smooth flow between customer and Linamar manufacturing plant communications. Urgency of issues is key.  

  • Provide immediate communication and response from Linamar plants as emergencies occur.  

  • Act as Engineering liaison between customer Engineering Department and Linamar Program Managers ensuring a smooth flow of communication.  

  • Provide customers with continued engineering support related to program launch and manufacturing concerns.  

  • Build relationships with customers as a long-term supplier by working daily alongside engineering to ensure successful launches.  

  • Attending Key Stakeholder Meetings in person at customer. This flows into working with the DRE and the Buyer to understand and properly quote Engineering Work Orders (EWOs). This must be done accurately and in a timely manner. A quick response is needed on both sides.  

  • Implement and provide a mechanism for the application of Customer and Linamar Temporary Work Orders (TWOs).  

  • Maintain and develop positive working relationships with customer’s engineering team.  

  • Support Tech Reviews and team meetings at customer.  

  • Support Weekly/Bi-weekly Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) at customer.  

  • Provide customers with engineering estimates (potential manufacturing cost increases/reductions) related to product design changes. This includes being the champion for VAVE ideas to reduce cost.  

  • Report programs launch status and issues to the Linamar Account Manager so that proper items are elevated as needed to ensure the success of a program.  

  • Provide engineering support as it applies to the review of DFMEA and PFMEA documents.  

  • Working with customers to take account for their input on the Control Plans (CPs). Provide follow up with Linamar plants and completion with customer.  

  • Supporting advanced development work with customer’s engineering team.  

  • Speed up shipping and receiving time sensitive parts between customer and Linamar facilities.  

 

Academic/Educational Requirements 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline and min 3 years of experience in automotive field.  

 

Required Skills/Experience 

 

  • Two plus (2+) years of experience in a customer facing, engineering role with an automotive tier one supplier.  

  • Knowledge of technical drafting and ability to read and interpret engineering specifications, drawings and technical blueprints.  

  • Team oriented and willingness to take direction from various groups within the steering organization.  

  • Excellent organizational skills and must communication effectively both written and verbal.  

  • Good problem-solving skills.  

  • Manage all aspects of a product launch: DFMEA, Appearance Approval, PPAP approval, etc.  

  • Strong computer skills, including AutoCAD, MS Office.  

  • Good interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.  

  • In depth knowledge of machining processes and manufacturing equipment.
