Company Overview:

MP Materials (NYSE: MP) is rebuilding American industrial capability for a new era of autonomy, robotics, and electrification.

We are the only U.S. company with a fully integrated rare earth supply chain—from mining and refining to advanced metal and magnet manufacturing. Our products include both the critical materials used to make permanent magnets and the finished magnets themselves—enabling next-generation technologies in robotics, automation, aerospace, transportation, defense, and energy systems. These materials are the foundation of physical AI—the convergence of computation, movement, and control.

We hire ambitious, mission-driven people who want to tackle complex challenges and shape the future of strategic industries. Our culture is rooted in teamwork, resiliency, and integrity, with a deep commitment to operational excellence and national purpose. MP is rapidly evolving from a materials producer into a leading U.S. manufacturer—and our people are driving that transformation.

Position Overview:

The Reliability Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for directing and overseeing all reliability initiatives across the organization. This manager is tasked with improving the reliability and performance of equipment, processes, and systems to minimize downtime and optimize operational costs.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and direct reliability programs, including preventive maintenance (PM) optimization, predictive maintenance (PdM) technologies (such as vibration analysis and thermography), and a robust root cause analysis (RCA) process.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing asset performance data, identifying systemic reliability issues, and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, including engineering, maintenance, and operations, to influence design decisions, ensure new equipment is maintainable and reliable, and drive reliability throughout the asset lifecycle.
  • Budgeting and Resources: Manage the reliability department's budget and resource allocation.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial).
  • 7–10 years of experience in an industrial reliability or maintenance role, including at least 3–5 years in a leadership or management position.
  • Professional certification as Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) or Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) are highly desirable.
  • Expert knowledge of reliability methodologies and tools, including Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and predictive maintenance technologies.
  • Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), data analytics software, and reliability modeling techniques is also required.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage a technical team effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to present complex information to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose complex equipment problems and develop effective, long-term solutions.
