As the Regional Environmental Manager, you will provide leadership and oversight of environmental regulatory compliance across multiple manufacturing facilities within the region. The role serves as a trusted advisor and environmental subject matter expert, partnering with site leadership to maintain compliance, strengthen Environmental Management Systems (EMS), support continuous improvement, and advance environmental stewardship in alignment with Saputo’s environmental commitments. This position requires strong project management, analytical, and leadership skills, along with extensive knowledge of environmental regulations, sustainability programs, and manufacturing operations. This position supports facilities in California, New Mexico and Wisconsin, as well as other locations within the regions as business needs require.

How you will make contributions that matter

  • With the Saputo values and pillars as an overall framework, help define and support environmental compliance at the plant and divisional levels. Create a vison with internal/external customers of Saputo’s compliance goals and the path for attainment. Drive changes with strong leadership and team mentality.

  • Work with plant teams on routine environmental compliance issues (e.g., permit condition compliance, waste management, regulatory reporting, inspections, sampling, trainings, regulatory responses, incident investigations, SOPs, etc.) to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of submissions, maintenance of required documentation, and incident/noncompliance investigations. Level of support dependent upon plant level resources (e.g., may be review only in some cases to full completion in others).

  • Perform routine environmental audits per Divisional protocols of facilities and work with plant management and personnel to identify sustainable solutions that resolve findings.

  • Develop and implement plans, requirements, and management systems as it pertains to environmental affairs, as needed (e.g., SWPPP, SPCC Plan, Malfunction and Abatement, etc.)

  • Develop and maintain teamwork within various Saputo functional groups such as DEA, with other service groups, operations, Legal, etc.

  • Assist plant teams in developing budgetary costs for environmental activities.

  • Understand release reporting requirements and report environmental incidents to the respective agencies, lead incident investigation teams, and oversee remedial actions to satisfaction of applicable regulatory agencies per Saputo’s policies/procedures.

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert to plant/ops/engineering/sanitation/QA/vendor teams in identification, scoping and implementation of environmental projects such as wastewater treatment, air emissions controls, etc.

  • Develop functional understanding/knowledge of Saputo’s operations (e.g., production, sanitation, packaging, wastewater generation/treatment, water usage, etc.) to facilitate management of environmental compliance matters.

  • Provide support during agency inspections. This may involve on-site presence and/or remote SME assistance.

  • Remain current/knowledgeable of regulatory changes at the local, state and federal level and their potential to impact the company operations.

  • Perform additional duties as required (e.g. project management, etc.).

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Management, Engineering or in a related field, or the equivalent experience. Knowledge of/experience in food manufacturing/dairy industry desirable.

  • A minimum of five (5) years of applicable environmental compliance manager-level job experience.

  • Knowledge of federal, state and local environmental compliance standards and regulations.

  • Ability to develop relationships and influence through strong service-based customer orientation.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, analytical, investigational, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to maintain a flexible mindset to manage/overcome changing project elements, timelines, resource allocations, agency/regulatory requirements, etc.

  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently with good time management and organizational/documentation skills.

  • Ability to work flexible hours and be “on-call” to address incidents 24/7, if needed.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Pro. CAD, Visio, SAP, Ignition and/or project management software abilities are an added a bonus.

  • Ability to travel.

Salary Range: $107,305 to $140,895.

Salary offers will vary commensurate with experience, educations, skills and training
