Job Overview:

OBJECTIVE / PURPOSE

Responsible for K-12 core product sales activities, from lead generation through close in an assigned territory. Develops and implements agreed upon Territory Sales Plan which will meet business goals of maintaining current customer base and expanding customer base in the territory. Works within the sales and support teams for the achievement of customer satisfaction, revenue generation, and long-term account goals in line with company vision and values.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS

  • Demonstrates selling skills such as questioning strategies, listening skills, negotiation strategies and closing techniques.
  • Demonstrates product knowledge of core products as well as knowledge of state/local standards to position and customize products.
  • Delivers effective and competitive one-on-one, small, and large group presentations as needed in the territory incorporating technology as appropriate.
  • Displays enthusiasm for the evolving digital marketplace and understands the digital needs of customers and uses that information to position our products.
  • Develops territory sales plan in conjunction with Director, National Sales.
  • Understands pricing and proposal models.
  • Demonstrates the ability to establish business relationships with decision makers in school districts.
  • Participates in local, state and National Science shows as needed.
  • Maximizes all opportunities in the process of closing a sale resulting in the taking of market share.
  • Develops a database of qualified contacts, leads, and customer insights through appointments, face-to-face calls on district supervisors and leaders, email, networking and phone calls.
  • Provides up-to-date pipeline opportunities and demonstrates the ability to gather and submit pertinent business information in Sales Force.
  • Maintains accurate records of all sales and prospecting activities including sales calls, presentations, closed sales, and follow-up activities within their assigned territory and in Sales Force.
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team.
  • Participates and contributes to the development of educational programs offered to clients, prospects, and company employees.
  • Travel required:   35-50%.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education:  Bachelor’s degree required

Experience:  Two-Five years consultative sales experience required; Education sales preferred.

Specialized Training/Skills:  

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to solve problems.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and contact management systems.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize workload.
