The Receiving and Material Handler Supervisor will be responsible for supervising daily receiving, raw material handling, baler, dock, and material movement activities. This position provides hands-on leadership to ensure inbound materials are unloaded, inspected, received, staged, transferred, stored, delivered, and documented accurately and safely. The supervisor coordinates team workload, supports personnel scheduling and training, resolves material flow issues, maintains dock and warehouse organization, and ensures compliance with safety, quality, cost, and housekeeping standards.
What you’ll do as a JOB TITLE:
Receiving, Dock, and Inventory Control:
• Oversee inbound truck receiving to ensure drivers are checked in, assigned dock doors, and escorted when required according to site safety and security procedures.
• Ensure trailers are secured before unloading, including use of dock locks, wheel chocks, and jack stands for dropped trailers when applicable.
• Unload or direct the unloading of inbound trucks, inspect materials for visible damage or shortages, and ensure concerns are documented and escalated promptly.
• Verify shipment details, pallet counts, carton counts, product condition, and Bill of Lading information before signing carrier paperwork.
• Ensure damaged, short, or incorrect shipments are clearly noted on the Bill of Lading, photographed when appropriate, and communicated to the Receiving Office, purchaser, Safety, Security, or department leadership as required.
• Enter receipts into SAP, process and log returns, support quality inspection flow, and ensure transfers are created, assigned, confirmed, and completed accurately.
• Coordinate put-away of raw materials, finished goods, consignment ink products, loose packages, and other inbound materials to correct bin locations, departments, staging areas, or designated storage locations.
• Maintain ownership of quarterly cycle counts for the Raw Materials warehouse by assigning, tracking, and supporting cycle count activities.
Material Handling, Baler, and Support Duties:
• Coordinate raw material delivery and return activity for production areas, including monitoring light system requests and ensuring timely movement of materials to and from lines.
• Perform or direct bin-to-bin transfers, department deliveries, production returns, UPS/FedEx deliveries, skid movement, bad skid removal, and other warehouse support tasks as needed.
• Oversee scrap paper handling, including scheduling scrap trucks, preparing Bills of Lading, emailing completed documents to paper brokers, and filing related paperwork.
• Support Baler Room and shredder operations, including safe operation, Lock Out/Tag Out awareness, bale removal, bale weighing, casino waste logging and shredding, and loading of scrap or bale trucks according to procedure.
• Ensure white waste, coffin boxes, blue tubs, red bins, trash, and recyclable materials are moved, emptied, returned, and stored in designated areas.
• Maintain the receiving dock, skid area, baler room, and assigned warehouse areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition through daily 5S and housekeeping expectations.
• Ensure the receiving dock is clear of product by the end of each shift and that all staged materials have been transferred, stored, delivered, or communicated for follow-up.
Leadership, Communication, and Compliance:
• Communicate daily priorities, staffing concerns, receiving issues, safety risks, material shortages, and process problems to the Shipping Supervisor and appropriate cross-functional partners.
• Assist with personnel planning, daily work staging, training needs, and follow-up to ensure coverage across Receiving, Baler, and material handling functions.
• Identify receiving, baler, inventory, or material flow concerns and help drive timely problem resolution.
• Promote safe work practices, accurate documentation, quality compliance, and cost-conscious decision making across the department.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to reduce delays, improve material flow, strengthen dock organization, and standardize receiving practices.
We’re looking for a JOB TITLE with:
• Fork truck license required; cherry picker license required or ability to obtain based on site requirements.
• Working knowledge of receiving dock procedures, Bills of Lading, material inspection, trailer safety, SAP receiving transactions, warehouse transfers, and inventory control practices.
• Ability to operate or understand baler, shredder, compactors, and related waste or scrap handling equipment safely and according to procedure.
• Strong communication, prioritization, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to lead employees, assign work, support training, monitor performance to procedure, and step into operational tasks as needed.
• Ability to work safely in a warehouse environment, follow Lock Out/Tag Out requirements where applicable, and maintain clean, organized work areas.
