Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented** **Receiving Inspector to join our team at a fast-paced aerospace CNC machine shop. This position is responsible for receiving incoming materials, verifying shipments for accuracy, inspecting products for damage or quality concerns, and ensuring all materials are properly documented before entering production. The ideal candidate is organized, physically capable, comfortable operating a forklift, and has strong computer skills.
Responsibilities
- Receive incoming deliveries from vendors and outside processing suppliers.
- Compare incoming shipments to packing slips and purchase orders to verify correct quantities and part numbers.
- Inspect incoming materials, tooling, and customer-supplied product for damage, accuracy, and overall condition.
- Identify and report discrepancies, shortages, or damaged shipments.
- Enter receiving transactions into the ERP system and maintain accurate electronic records.
- Label and route received materials to the appropriate department or inventory location.
- Operate a forklift to unload trucks and safely move materials throughout the facility.
- Maintain an organized receiving area and ensure materials are stored properly.
- Coordinate with Purchasing, Quality, Shipping, and Production regarding incoming materials and discrepancies.
- Assist with inventory counts and material transfers as needed.
- Follow company quality procedures and AS9100 requirements.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous receiving, warehouse, shipping, or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience in a CNC machine shop or aerospace manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Forklift experience required (certification preferred or willingness to become certified).
- Comfortable using computers and learning ERP/MRP software.
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and basic computer applications.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to accurately compare part numbers, quantities, and documentation.
- Good communication skills and ability to work with multiple departments.
- Dependable with excellent attendance.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely operate a forklift throughout the workday.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and climb throughout an 8-10 hour shift.
- Ability to work both indoors and occasionally outdoors while unloading deliveries.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience reading engineering drawings or customer documentation.
- Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality systems.
- Experience using ERP systems such as JobBOSS, Epicor, E2, Global Shop, or similar manufacturing software.
- Basic understanding of inventory control and material traceability.
