Our North American Semiconductor group is searching for an experienced R&D Technician in Reno, NV.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Install and remove devices by accurately tightening and removing bolts, ensuring proper assembly and disassembly of equipment.
- Read and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to ensure safe handling of chemicals and materials used in testing and maintenance procedures.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of testing equipment and instruments to ensure operational efficiency.
- Weld pipes and fabricate parts as required for testing setups or equipment modification.
- Lift objects weighing up to 25 lbs. as part of equipment setup, maintenance, or modification processes.
- Document test results, observations, and discrepancies accurately for further analysis and development.
- Collaborate with engineering and development teams to provide insights and feedback on product performance and safety.
- Adhere to all company safety protocols and standards to maintain a safe working environment.
- Carry out necessary purchase order creation per HORIBA ordering process.
- Conduct various analytical and/or micro contamination studies using leak detectors, Mass spectrometers, gas analyzers, particle counters, data acquisition setups/software etc., after being trained and qualified on any such equipment.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Skills and Knowledge:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
- Proven mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with tools and equipment installation.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow Safety Data Sheets and safety protocols.
- Basic welding skills with the ability to perform simple fabrications or repairs is a plus.
- Ability to handle power tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment and process issues.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills for reporting test results and maintaining records.
- Physical capability to lift up to 25 lbs. and perform manual tasks.
- Previous experience in a laboratory or R&D environment is a plus.
- Familiarity with gas flow products and testing procedures preferred.
- Comfortable with electrical & Flow schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Previous experience with assembling and commissioning R&D experimental equipment.
Preferred:
- Experience in fabrication and/or procurement of medium to high-vacuum systems and chamber components.
- Knowledge of high frequency (kHz to GHz) power supplies, low temperature plasma generation systems, matching networks.
- Pumping system competency, rotary, scroll, roots, turbomolecular, cryogenic.
- Versed in vacuum and gas system instrumentation, such as mass flow controllers, capacitance diaphragm gauges, residual gas analyzers.
- General competency and safety knowledge with positive pressure gas delivery systems used in semiconductors.
