Summary

The R&D Technician Intern is responsible for assisting the Research and Development Technicians with various project deliverables. The Intern will work closely with R&D Engineers and Project Managers to develop solutions and resolve issues with current projects.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assists in the research process by tracking researched elements and their place of origin through documentation
  • Assists in the development process by tracking developed elements and their beginning state to end state through documentation
  • Assists in developing effective testing processes to quantifiably verify build strategies
  • Works within the engineering team supporting project specific R&D
  • Assists in coordinating rapid prototyping processes to test/present design ideas
  • Understands the importance of clear and concise documentation
  • Maintains daily communication with Internal and external parties outlining progress.
  • Assists with maintaining a project schedule
  • Generates purchase requisitions for vendors when required for R&D projects
  • Fosters a culture that values family, innovation, collaboration and empowerment
  • Follows all safety and workplace policies

Competencies and Skills

  • Intermediate level proficiency with reading Mechanical Drawings
  • Beginner-level Drawing Software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Etc.)
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to take an analytical approach to transactional work. Strategic mindset, business savvy, creativity, an ability to negotiate professionally and build upon these skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, as well as numerical reasoning and mathematical computation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to be self-directed and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Ability to learn and evaluate procedures and processes rapidly and to recommend changes when appropriate.
  • Exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills, along with a positive attitude and a willingness to collaborate with both internal and external customers at all levels and departments.
  • A professional demeanor, as well as a high degree of flexibility, responsiveness and self-direction

Education/Certification

  • Working toward obtaining Bachelors or AAS degree

Experience

  • Our internship is designed for individuals who are currently enrolled at an accredited college/university and who will be continuing their undergraduate studies. Candidates should be seeking a bachelor’s degree in engineering.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Walking, sitting, bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 50 lbs. may be required throughout the workday
