Ingredion is seeking an R&D Process Development Engineer that will be responsible for supporting process research and commercialization of technologies that enable new product development, operational excellence via margin improvement, and Optimizing Starch manufacturing process agenda. The position will be leading or supporting projects across multiple business segments.

The Engineering Associate will report to a Director, Process Innovation & Development.

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform lab and pilot plant experiments to support New Product Development or Process Innovation projects

  • Drive investigation into new process technologies

  • Collaborate effectively with manufacturing personnel and cross-functional teams to commercialize new products/processes, as well as troubleshoot and optimize processes

  • Make recommendations for commercializing new technologies supported by experimental data

  • Scan open literature for emerging technologies related to the field

  • Prepare and maintain updated task level project plans. Actively participate in project team meetings, and provide status updates including project plans and milestones

  • Write reports and effectively communicate results to the project team and stakeholders

  • Analyze production data to identify root cause for process failure

  • Operate laboratory equipment safely and with little direct supervision to support project needs

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Following guidelines set-up for good housekeeping, GMPs, and safety

What you will bring:

  • PhD in Chemical Engineering/Food Science/Bioprocess Engineering with relevant experience in Biochemical, Food or other water and energy intensive industries.

  • Experience with reaction and separation technologies, reaction kinetics and continuous operations.

  • Expertise in the food processing, pharmaceutical, or nutraceutical industry with emphasis on scale-up from pilot to manufacturing.

  • Experienced and a proven track record of implementing new technologies in starch modification as well as in Processing Ingredients preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects independently

  • Flexibility to handle and manage both long-term development projects and short-term troubleshooting needs

  • Demonstrated ability to build and foster relationships with leadership of business units, R&D, Technical Service, Manufacturing, and Regulatory groups to drive delivery on projects

  • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills. Must be able to convey information in a clear, focused, and concise manner

  • Digital awareness and analytics understanding

  • Strong business and financial acumen and ability to translate into operations strategy

  • Willingness for overnight travel (25-30%)

Pay Range:

$98,800.00-$131,733.33 Annual

This pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Final base salary will be determined based on several factors which may include but are not limited to responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data and applicable bargaining agreement (if any).

Incentive Compensation:

As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Ingredion Annual Incentive Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus.
