Job Overview:

JOB SUMMARY:

Plays a vital role in the design, development, and maintenance of mechanical systems and components within medical, dental, and animal health markets. Tests and evaluates their designs to ensure that they meet the specifications, requirements, and standards of the clients, users, and industry. Performs work under the supervision and guidance of more experienced engineers or managers.

 

ESSENTIAL/PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Performs full lifecycle product development, from design to implementation.
  • Applies a foundational knowledge of engineering methods to perform assigned tasks within defined procedures.
  • Conducts experiments, analyzes data, and interprets results to improve and innovate product designs.
  • Communicates within the team and escalates issues when needed.
  • Learns new technical tools and methods.
  • Works on simple engineering projects, follows best practices.
  • Implements solutions, identifies, and raises project risks, acts as a team contributor.
  • Actively participates with ideas and questions. Makes decisions within assigned tasks under guidance and escalates appropriately.
  • Follows industry standards and regulations for quality, safety, and performance.
  • Learns technical tools and methods.

 

SECONDARY DUTIES:

  • Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to the co-op group.
  • Develops an understanding of the importance of quality in engineering projects.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.

 

COMPETENCY and/or SKILL: 

  • Basic data collection and analysis skills to solve simple problems
  • Familiarity with basic engineering tools and methods
  • Ability to apply problem-solving skills to find root causes and propose solutions
  • Knowledge of basic CAD software tools (SolidWorks and CREO preferred)
  • Basic knowledge of metals and polymer materials
  • Comprehension of basic manufacturing methods
  • Understanding of fit and tolerance principles
  • Understanding of electronic packaging design

  • Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to the co-op group.
