Job Overview:

Summary

 

The Rathole Driller and / or Foundation Driller is responsible for the safe operation of drilling equipment and serves as the lead at the customer job site by ensuring customer and rig technical specifications are met. 

Functional Responsibilities 

  • Fully understands rigging and the safe operation of rigging equipment
  • Ability to demonstrate and perform Rathole procedures successfully 
  • Ability to demonstrate and perform Foundation Drilling procedures successfully
  • Demonstrate ability to lead a crew following all safety procedures and guidelines
  • Review Customer rig technical specification
  • Adheres to all Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental requirements and ensure crew also follows proper related procedures
  • Provides necessary leadership in all aspects of the job; plans ahead, communicates effectively, trains crew, maintains accurate         records (both written and mathematical) 
  • Facilitates safety meetings and JSEA pre-job meetings
  • Fully understands the necessity and benefits of preventive maintenance and applies PM practices daily
  • Performs rig relocation and follows established procedures
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager 

Education, Professional Licensure and Certifications 

  • Preferred High School/GED
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required which meets Company standards 

Required Skills 

  • Experience – Minimum 1 year
  • Language skills - Ability to read and comprehend simple oral and written instructions and effectively communicate/present                   information one-on-one or in small group situations.
  • Welding experience (preferred in some locations).
  • Mathematical skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Reasoning skills - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.  
  • Ability to handle problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations. 
  • Flexibility to work with different crews and to perform different aspects of the job

Required Knowledge 

  • Rathole equipment to include processes and procedures
  • Foundation drilling to include process and procedures
  • Able to read and interpret Rig specifications
  • DOT Regulations   

Supervisory Responsibilities 

  • Supervise Crew 

Physical Demands 

  • This job requires frequent moderate to heavy work.   
  • Employee will be exposed to outdoor weather elements to include extreme temperatures, high noise and the potential of                    chemicals and fumes or gasses.  
  • Employee will stand or walk 75% of the time and frequently be asked to bend, squat, reach or climb.
  • Employee must be physically capable of lifting, pulling, pushing tools and equipment up to 50lbs in a safe manner.
