Position Description:

InnovaFlex™ is seeking an R&D Process Integration Engineer.  The R&D Process Integration Engineer is responsible for New Product Introduction (NPI) and reliability evaluation. This role will collaborate with Process Engineers specializing in thin film, lithography, and etching to develop and refine processes that enhance performance, productivity, and yield improvement. The engineer will also be involved in process development, troubleshooting, workflow optimization, and failure analysis to determine root causes of failure modes using various analytical techniques.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead new process development, including DOE (Design of Experiments), inspections, measurements, and data collection.
  • Support process development for tools such as laser lift, PI coating, and testing equipment.
  • Manage development lots, including process troubleshooting and change control.
  • Conduct NPI activities, including design/layout reviews, process reviews, and collaboration with engineers to establish FAB and test workflows.
  • Perform defect and failure analysis for development lots.
  • Conduct data analysis to improve process reliability and performance.

Scope:

  • New Product Introduction (NPI) – Leading activities related to the introduction of new semiconductor devices, including design and process reviews, workflow establishment, and validation.
  • Process Integration & Development – Working across multiple process areas (e.g., thin film deposition, lithography, etching) to develop new manufacturing methods and optimize existing ones.
  • Process Troubleshooting & Optimization – Diagnosing process issues, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing solutions to improve process reliability, performance, and yield.
  • Failure & Defect Analysis – Using analytical techniques to investigate failure modes, perform defect analysis, and enhance device reliability.
  • Data Analysis & Experimental Design – Conducting Design of Experiments (DOE), collecting and analyzing process data to drive improvements.
  • Tool & Equipment Development – Supporting the development and optimization of tools such as laser lift-off, PI coating, and testing equipment for semiconductor processing.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration – Partnering with FAB engineers, process engineers, and test teams to establish efficient and scalable workflows.
  • Change Control & Documentation – Managing development lots, implementing process changes, and ensuring documentation and compliance with quality standards.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High proficiency in teamwork and problem-solving.
  • Hands-on experience in process development and integration.
  • Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE) principles.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor materials characterization.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, JMP, and Python programming.
  • Experience with industrialization & reliability and accelerated stress testing.
  • Strong report writing, technical documentation, and communication skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Compensation:

Wages: *$90K- $145K, depending on experience

Annual Target Bonus: 15% (prorated first year of employment based on date of hire)

*The salary range provided is an estimate representative of all experience levels. InnovaFlex considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.

 

Education: Bachelor’s Degree – Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field is highly PREFERRED

Minimum Experience: 

  • 3-5+ years working with thin film, lithography, or etch processes in the semiconductor industry or a related field.
  • 3-5+ years working in a cleanroom environment.
  • 3-5+ years of experience as an Integration Engineer in the semiconductor industry.
  • 3-5+ years working with device physics.
  • 3-5+ years of experience with electrical test & characterization hardware (probe station, multimeters, power supplies).
  • Experience with flexible electronics.
  • Knowledge of Thin-Film Transistors (TFTs), including Amorphous Silicon (a-Si), and IGZO.
  • Understanding of dielectric materials and high-mobility semiconductors.
