Quality Technician (Hours: 7 am - 3:30 pm Mon-Fri)
Located in SW Cedar Rapids, ACP, Inc. is a division of the ALI Group, a Welbilt Company, and since 1969, has been a leader in manufacturing and designing commercial high-speed and microwave ovens used in some of your favorite restaurants. We are seeking a 1st shift Quality Technician to join our quality team!
Job Summary: The Quality Technician will be responsible for supporting the business by providing assistance to identify opportunities for improvement, responding to quality issues and helping to drive corrective action activity. Will perform regular audits of process and product to drive detection, prevention and mistake proofing activity and work closely with manufacturing, suppliers, and engineering to drive quality improvements that will improve first pass yield, avoid rework, and prevent use of non-conforming materials.
Key Accountabilities:
- Conduct incoming/receiving inspection for both production and FAV parts as requested.
- FAV – read blueprints, measure parts, record / report results.
- Conduct finished goods audits and initiate action for variances to specifications.
- Evaluate production reject components and determine fault (vendor or production).
- Initiate and implement containment of vendor issues and production parts.
- Provide continuous feedback to associates on corrective / preventive action activities.
- Make pass / fail determination of production quality issues and follow-up with appropriate personnel for long-term resolution.
- Assist in development of internal quality processes and procedures.
- Maintain records of audits, inspection and measurements
- Back-up quality support: conduct process audits, track SPC and initiate action for variances to specifications; conduct torque test audits; verify calibration adherence per requirements; initiate, monitor, maintain product holds/reworks; ensure that deviation and ECN coordination document control is current, available and in use.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal skills, team skills, work ethic and professionalism.
- Demonstrate job knowledge and understanding of basic Lean concepts, or willingness to be trained.
- Perform requirements of job with minimal supervision.
- Be a resource and assist associates and suppliers in resolving quality issues/questions.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with all associates and suppliers.
- All other duties as assigned.
Position Competencies:
- HS graduate or equivalent. AA/AS, BA/BS or technical degree beneficial.
- Prior relevant experience, job knowledge and understanding of quality/basic Lean concepts preferred which may include: process mapping, measurement of parts, gauge R&R, capability studies, problem solving, root cause analysis, 5 Why, 5S, pareto analysis and mistake proofing.
- Ability to determine root cause and conformance to quality or defect.
- Strong math aptitude with knowledge and understanding of measuring tools, gauge R&R, and capability studies.
- Demonstrable problem-solving skills and decision-making skills.
- Possess computer proficiency utilizing MS Word, Excel and general data entry.
