Job Title: Quality Tech - Cut and Etch

Reports To: Welding Engineer

Position Summary

The Cut and Etch Technician is responsible for preparing, cutting, etching, and documenting weld samples to support weld quality verification in the fabrication shop. This role requires attention to detail, consistency in sample preparation, and accurate documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate the cut and etch booth to prepare weld samples for inspection.
• Perform cutting, polishing, and etching of weld cross-sections following standard procedures.
• Capture images of etched welds using microscope and imaging equipment.
• Document results accurately, ensuring traceability of weld samples to production parts.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the cut and etch booth, ensuring safe handling of chemicals and equipment.
• Support weld engineers and auditors in reviewing weld quality results.
• Follow all company safety policies and proper handling procedures for chemicals and samples.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• No prior experience necessary — training will be provided.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow step-by-step procedures.
• Comfortable working with basic tools and equipment in a lab/shop environment.
• Ability to record data accurately and maintain organized records.

Preferred Skills (Not Required)

• Experience using Pax-it imaging software for capturing and measuring samples.
• Prior exposure to welding, fabrication, or quality inspection.
• Basic computer skills (file management, data entry).
