SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Quality Technician will perform daily product and process audits of the control plan using gages, micrometers, faro arm, calipers, etc. Daily responsibilities will be towards goods produced for shipment and to ensure the quality standards are met or exceeded for the customer while evaluating and reacting to performance issues.
JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Visually monitor the quality of parts, including secondary operations, using specified acceptance criteria and standards.
- Assess the quality and accept or reject product during start-up, in-process, and final stages, based on quality criteria specified by the company and customer requirements.
- Perform First Piece Approval after the process has been stabilized.
- Perform dimensional inspections on product to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
- Perform basic capability studies
- Maintain awareness of customer complaints and internal rejections of the product being inspected by issuing quality alerts.
- Notify supervisors and process owners of any detected non-conformances, follow up NCMRs until closure, and capture results data in the system.
- Segregate non-conformities and contain defective issues.
- Utilize a variety of measurement tools to accurately perform measurements.
- Maintain current and appropriate inspection documentation and capture data in product files.
- Document all discrepancies between the product and the written specifications per the control plan.
- Participate in internal quality audits to verify compliance with established procedures, document results, and verify that corrective actions are taken.
- Observe all Safety, Quality, and Productivity goals and procedures.
- Complete data entry as required.
- Perform non-routine tasks of incoming inspection and/or dock audits of product.
- Perform initial analysis of data points in SPC.
- Respond and contain any suppliers issues on the floor; take appropriate parts to the Hold Cage.
- General 6S duties.
- Work Instruction developments.
- Gage R and R and other measurement system analysis developments.
- Validate that sort and rework is done on the shift until completion, and that NCMRs are updated in the system.
- Assist in the training of production personnel regarding quality standards and identification of cosmetic defects.
- Actively participate in problem-solving activities.
- Create Quality Alerts for internal or external concerns, and ensure all personnel involved have been trained on the alerts.
- Contain any supplier issues in the production line and warehouse, and raise the concerns to the suppliers and the Quality Engineer.
- Manage parts coming in and out of the Hold Cage.
- Comply with all Environmental Requirements and Policies.
- Report all Environmental incidents to the immediate supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):
- High School Diploma required
- Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
- Must be able to work full-time, and be available to work nights and weekends when requested from Management.
- 1 year of automotive parts inspection and auditing experience required.
- Automotive Core Tools knowledge preferred. IATF / TS 16949 knowledge preferred.
- Must possess demonstrated analytical capability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good oral and electronic communication
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Satisfactory result of color hue and sorting testing
- Ability to use basic hand tools, and experience with using complex measuring tools experience is required.
- Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

- Personal protective equipment includes safety glasses and general duty gloves.
