Starting Pay at $23.97 per hour.
Quality Control Floor Inspectors are responsible for ALL departments division wide. Some of their responsibilities include but are not limited to: Quality Audits / Alerts, Belt and Buff checks on cosmetic parts; First and Last piece inspections of cast products, QC Weights, In-Process Die Casting Inspections (Polish Checks, Dimensional Checks, Destructive Testing), Final Audits of products and any support needed from the associates for quality related issues.
Duties and Responsibilities (This job includes but is not limited to the following):
- Communicate with the Quality Inspector on the previous shift. Ask what happened in their assigned area and what to look for during your shift. Also relay information to the incoming shift that follows.
- Verify that there are control plans or work instructions for each product being run during your shift. If there is no control plan, acquire one for the operator.
- Verify with the operators that they have read and understand their control plans or work instructions.
- Able to instruct associates in gauging and measurement of products.
- Able to perform all tests necessary to verify quality along with documenting the required information into logs or data collection sheets as required.
- QC Weights
- First & Last Article Inspection.
- Assist in running casting breaks and clean dies as required. Trained Die Caster & Tool Room personnel should be 1st option for die cleaning.
- Basic knowledge and concepts of SPC (Statistical Process Control).
- Perform CMM checks on production parts.
- X-ray operation & inspection.
- Actively participate in the companies 6S programs.
- Wear required personal protective equipment when required.
- Capable and willing to work overtime.
- Required to complete paperwork associated with the job (Logs, records, charts, audits, etc.).
- Perform other associated duties, function, or work as may be needed or assigned to continue the productive operation of the company.
- Act as a trainer for Quality and Production related techniques / programs.
- Will work towards continual improvement in quality. Suggest changes to improve processes.
- Good attendance record is required (for initial bid & advancement to Level I).
- Work in safe manner to prevent injury to self or other employees. Report any unsafe conditions.
- Must follow all safety rules and policies as set forth by OSHA guidelines and Pace Industries policies and procedures as outlined in the employee manual.
- MUST BE WILLING TO BE TRAINED. Participate in training programs deemed necessary by the company to hone leadership skills and/or promote learning for new technology.
- Must complete the following training certifications: Paint Line Cosmetic Inspection, HGB Inspection & Handling, Machine Inspection, Slingshot Machining Inspection, and Lockout / Tagout Training.
- Must be able to learn and use the Quality MRB Processes, including product containment and NCM process.
Position Requirements
- Must be able to read and understand written directives. (The predominate forms of instructions are written, visual and verbal.)
- Must be able to use and read different types of measuring equipment.
- Must be able to read and understand blueprints.
- Must have and maintain a good attendance record and no history of discipline problems.
- Must pass a written test issued by the Quality Manager.
Requirements to Advance to Floor Inspector - Quality Tech I
- 6 months experience in Floor Inspector – Quality Tech II position.
- Must pass a written & hands-on test issued by the Quality Manager or their designate.
