Job Overview:

Summary

Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Quality Inspector is responsible for performing inspections on incoming and manufactured products during all stages of production and completes final inspections before shipment.  This position will ensure that products meet Steele Solution’s standards, engineering and customer quality expectations.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the inspection of products at various stages of production to ensure all shop floor quality checks are complete;
  • Prepare for internal and vendor audits and ensuring all related audit paperwork is complete;
  • Ensure all in-process inspection documentation is signed and in order and input information into the QC software;
  • Practice root cause analysis and discuss the quality issues with the production leaders to minimize and/or resolve issues timely;
  • Responsible to preparing and analyzing incident reports;
  • Participates in quality related training programs;
  • Occasionally travel to vendors and company facilities to perform in process inspections;
  • Comply with all safety regulations;
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in steel fabrication or relevant industry
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a quality role, or oversight of quality functions preferred
  • Previous experience in an ISO quality system preferred
  • Understanding of quality systems and processes, to include root cause analysis
  • Ability to identify process issues and offer solutions
  • Ability to work in a cross-function team environment
  • Ability to cross shifts to ensure common practice
  • Ability to complete Qualification to SSI – NDT – Level I course and test
  • Ability to travel to other Wisconsin and Ohio locations to knowledge sharing and coverage

 

Education

  • High school degree or equivalent is required; post high school education or a technical degree or certificate is preferred

 

Other Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
  • Excellent customer service skills which include maintaining a good attitude, taking ownership of meeting customer needs, going the “extra mile” for customers, demonstrating a commitment to sharpening skills through education and training, using positive communication, and looking for opportunities to respect customers’ time and schedules
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

 

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization. Bilingual English/Spanish helpful, but not required.
