Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Quality Technician to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In this role, you will serve as a key quality resource supporting manufacturing operations by ensuring products meet design specifications and quality standards throughout the production process. You will perform inspections, maintain quality records, support continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive product quality and operational excellence.

They're looking for someone preferably who would be able to understand how quality works in a manufacturing setting as opposed to labs/incoming inspection or that type of thing. We don't need a quality engineer, but they wouldn't say no to one. The last person they hired came from automotive and she's been there five years. Lots of blueprints and engineering documents. SAP preferred.

What You'll Do

• Perform incoming, in-process, first-piece, and final inspections to verify products meet engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Document inspection results and manage quality-related transactions, product disposition activities, and inventory holds within SAP.
• Maintain calibration programs for measurement equipment and coordinate calibration and repair activities with service providers.
• Investigate nonconforming materials, work with suppliers on returns and corrective actions, and support resolution of quality issues.
• Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, and Quality teams to minimize production disruptions and improve product quality.
• Support PPAP activities, AGV pre-shipment inspections, internal audits, and ISO 9001 compliance requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis, problem-solving, and support of quality improvement projects.

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in a Quality Technician, Quality Inspector, or similar role within a manufacturing, industrial, automation, or distribution environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
• Experience using precision measurement tools, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and related inspection equipment.
• Working knowledge of SAP and quality management processes preferred.
• Understanding of AIAG quality tools, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement principles.
• Strong analytical, organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
