Essential functions
The essential functions of this position while meeting or exceeding annual goals and objectives are as follows:
- Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of IMMI products, with strong focus on product integrity, reliability, regulatory compliance, and adherence to specifications.
- Perform daily start-up and in-process audits on foam injection (first-shot weight checks, ratio verification, part measurement, and production release) and welding stations (weld spot location/size verification per AWS, ASME, and ISO 9606-1 standards).
- Collect and analyze production and incoming material data using quality tools (Minitab, Excel) to enable statistical process control, supplier/material release decisions, dimensional verification, KPI reporting, and control chart maintenance (e.g., np-chart, X-bar & R charts).
- Monitor internal rejects and scrap levels; identify and stop out-of-control processes when repetitive defects or excessive scrap occur.
- Support containment activities (internal/external), issue quality alerts, certify/identify quarantined material shipments, and collaborate on multidisciplinary root cause analysis and countermeasure implementation teams.
- Assist with calibration/verification of measuring equipment (including block gage checks) and participate in Gage R&R (GR&R) studies.
- Manage the quarantine area: execute ERP transactions, generate reports on days-on-hand and total cost, and actively participate in material review board (MRB) meetings.
- Conduct shop floor process audits, including 5S compliance, work instruction adherence, process parameter checks, and dock audits.
- Review and update core quality documentation as needed (PPAP, FMEA, SPC, control plans).
- Perform lab destructive testing on production samples to validate conformity (e.g., checks for lack of fusion, incomplete/excess penetration, internal cracking) per internal procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager, on an as needed basis.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school with +2 years experience; or three to five years’ experience in a related quality position.
- Background must include experience in a quality position with manufacturing processes in a production environment with proven experience developing quality audits, quality control and quality inspections that were tied to measurable goals.
- Good understanding of BOM levels and structures; able to read mechanical parts drawings. Strong knowledge of product features, technical drawings, GD&T, applications, and functions.
- Familiarity with industry standards, including IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and quality core tools such as FMEA, PPAP, SPC, and MSA.
- Proficient in the use of precision measurement instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM).
- Solid analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to interpret and analyze quality data and documentation.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with strong organizational capabilities.
- Competent in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), and experience with quality-related tools/software such as PDM, Outlook, Smartsheet, and SPC tools.
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes, vendor contract standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Must comply with all legal, safety, and corporate quality policies and procedures.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, quality-focused environment.

- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to visually inspect and interpret designs on screen and in print.
