Quality Technician – Quality Department 

Who We’re Looking For

Hood Container Corporation is seeking a dedicated Quality Technician to join our 3rd shift team at our Chicago, IL facility. If you have a sharp eye for detail, a commitment to quality, and experience in a manufacturing environment, we want to hear from you!

The starting wage for this position is $20.00 per hour.

What You’ll Do

• Inspect corrugated sheets and finished boxes to ensure they meet customer specifications and established quality standards.
• Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections according to plant quality procedures.
• Verify product dimensions, board caliper, and applicable quality characteristics, including printing, scoring, slotting, and glue adhesion.
• Perform required product testing using designated measuring tools and quality testing equipment.
• Maintain accurate inspection records, test results, and customer-specific quality documentation.
• Promptly communicate quality defects and out-of-specification results to production supervisors and Quality leadership.
• Identify and document nonconforming products and assist with product holds, sorting, and reinspection as directed.
• Work with production teams to investigate quality issues and verify that corrective actions are effective.
• Check the condition of measuring and testing equipment and report calibration or maintenance needs.
• Maintain a clean, organized testing area and follow all plant safety procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Quality leadership.

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 6 consecutive months of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or warehouse setting.
• Corrugator experience is a strong plus.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Ability to stand for up to 12 hours and lift as needed.
• Comfortable working 12-hour shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime.
• Strong attention to detail with solid documentation skills.
• Team-oriented with a strong work ethic and a desire to learn.
• Able to read a tape measure and complete basic measurements accurately.
• Self-motivated, safety-conscious, and reliable.
