Job Responsibilities:
Supervises and coordinates the activities of the Quality Department to ensure all finished products meet customer specifications, appearance standards, regulatory requirements, and established quality objectives. Responsible for maintaining compliance with the Quality Management System, IATF 16949 requirements, and customer-specific requirements. Leads the Quality Team in supporting production, resolving quality concerns, and driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the finishing process.
Job Duties:
•Supervise the daily operations of the Quality Department, including assigning responsibilities, delegating tasks, developing personnel, and ensuring departmental objectives are achieved.
•Maintain and enforce quality systems, procedures, work instructions, inspection standards, and process controls to ensure compliance with customer requirements, CQI-12 and IATF 16949 standards, and company objectives.
•Monitor product quality throughout the finishing process, including incoming materials, in-process inspections, final inspections, testing, and shipment approval.
•Lead the investigation, containment, and resolution of quality concerns, customer complaints, internal nonconformances, and supplier issues through root cause analysis, corrective actions, quality alerts, Layered Process Audits (LPAs), and continuous improvement initiatives.
•Coordinate and support customer audits, registrar audits, supplier audits, customer visits, and new product launches while serving as a primary contact for quality-related communications.
•Work closely with Engineering, Laboratory, Production, and Scheduling personnel to verify specifications, process parameters, testing requirements, appearance standards, and customer requirements.
•Coordinate PPAP submissions, capability studies, first-piece approvals, and product qualification activities to ensure successful product launches and process changes.
•Review quality data and inspection results to identify trends, implement improvements, reduce defects, and improve overall process performance.
•Prepare and present quality reports, audit results, corrective action responses, and customer quality metrics as required.
Communicate Quality System requirements throughout the organization and ensure ongoing training, awareness, and compliance by all employees.
•Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing scrap, rework, customer concerns, and process variation while improving efficiency and product quality.
Skills and Qualifications
•A minimum of five years of experience in quality assurance, quality supervision, or a related manufacturing environment, preferably within a finishing operation. Knowledge of IATF 16949, customer-specific requirements, corrective actions, SPC, metrology, inspection techniques, and continuous improvement principles are required.
•Experience with customer audits, PPAP submissions, quality alerts, and new product launches is preferred.
•Ability to interpret customer specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards required.
•Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, computer, and interpersonal skills required. Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
