Description

Our Lewisville, TX facility is interviewing now for a Quality Supervisor!  As an ideal candidate you will have at least 2 years previous quality experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the printing or packaging industry, focusing on procedural, regulatory and product compliance. You should also possess strong communication, collaboration and customer service skills, having prior customer-facing experience. Knowledge of continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, or other quality assurance processes & procedures is helpful.  Safety/OSHA certs or experience a plus.

As the Quality Supervisor you will be responsible for the quality activities for your assigned location. Your primary focus is to develop, implement and maintain quality and continuous improvement initiatives for the company and to execute assigned tasks.  You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with internal and external procedures, customer requirements, regulatory agency guidelines as appropriate, and all Fortis Solutions Group policies.  Lastly, you are responsible for facilitating external and internal audits on a routine basis to identify any non-conforming areas and develop sustainable and systemic corrective actions. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promote quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization with specific responsibility to your assigned location.
  • Monitor performance by gathering relevant data, producing statistical reports and providing data and recommendations to Plant and Quality Leadership. (KPI’s, Internal and external issues, etc.)
  • Effectively interact with Estimating & Planning, Customer Relations, Sales, Operations, and the Purchasing teams to maintain product supply, introduce new products, and establish quality requirements and testing.
  • Identify sources of waste (product and process) and develop solutions.
  • Proactively audit live jobs while in production to verify that Quality checks are being completed properly.
  • Provide support, training and troubleshooting on Global Vision and AVT Print Quality inspection platforms. 
  • Maintain the color standard folder program.
  • Complete functional testing as needed to meet customer requirements and train personnel on new test methods.
  • Perform internal quality audits as assigned, identify non-conforming material or processes, create and implement corrective actions.
  • Responsible for external complaints including customer communication, investigation, root cause determination, and corrective action development while working with cross functional teams. 
  • Work with operations team to implement improvements to existing products and processes to improve product quality and reduce cost.
  • Issue all Return Material Authorizations (RMA’s), Certificates of Destruction (COD’s), C of C’s and all quality related paperwork that customers and vendors require.
  • Establish procedures, documentation and oversee committees, as necessary, to ensure compliance with all internal and external (ISO, Product Safety, Customer, etc.) quality requirements.
  • Review quality procedures and forms for effectiveness (Maintain Best Practices) and train personnel on any new or modified procedures.
  • Write SOPs for current processes as well as future processes that will be implemented.  Focus on 1-point lessons which are visual in nature.
  • Analyze quality data to identify preventive actions and present to Plant and Quality Leadership.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies, committee members, and other organizational staff to maintain compliance and formulate corrective actions when deficiencies are noted.
  • Travel to designated FSG sites and customers as needed.  Investigate complaints in the field and disposition product.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for new and existing employees. Coach for performance improvement and provide regular performance feedback.
  • Communicate goals and objectives and motivate employees to achieve company quality standards.  Inform Management of quality policy violations.
  • Additional duties as required.

Qualifications


Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least five years of experience within the printing or packaging industry or a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Quality or Continuous Improvement activities.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience and understanding of quality and manufacturing related documentation.
  • Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to think proactively and solve problems creatively.
  • Ability to build consensus and lead change.
  • Ability to prioritize different tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Experience with other software and technology (Smartsheet, QMS, ERP systems, etc).

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the site Quality Technician(s) including timecard approval, performance review input, delegating tasks and providing training, coaching and guidance.

Travel Requirements:

  • May include occasional travel (up to 10% annually) to customer facilities or off-site seminars and training.

Training Requirements:

  • Willing to attend required training courses or sessions related to the job as assigned.

Physical Demands:

  • Lifting, sitting, standing, crouching, required.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test and subject to random drug screening.

Work Environment:

  • Regular exposure to dust and noise in the production environment.
  • Warehouse environment temperatures may be influenced by outside temperatures.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follow all safety requirements in the production area.
  • Safety toe shoes highly recommended in the Plant Warehouse and Production areas.
