Job Overview:

Summary

Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Quality Specialist will inspect, coordinate and monitor production and process for accuracy, and confirms that products meet quality standards across all Steele Solutions locations. Additionally, proposes measures and assists Quality Manager with the implementation of quality policies and procedures. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  1. Works with Design, Engineering, IT and Manufacturing to define and improve design, system and manufacturing processes.
  • Develops, improves and works within QMS software (QCBD).
  • Reviews, compiles, and analyzes QMS information to prepare reports as needed for various business needs.                                     
  • Works with CWIs in qualification and certification activities to ensure all necessary documentation is correct and submitted to compliance.
  • Helps with investigations and implementation of corrective actions as defined through the NCR process. 
  • Maintains criteria and record systems, including NCR and Corrective Action effectiveness.
  • Helps ensure compliance with all housekeeping procedures, quality and safety regulations.
  • Designs and implements quality assurance sampling systems, procedures, and statistical techniques. 
  • Maintains criteria and record systems, including NCR and Corrective Action effectiveness.
  • Supports production operations in quality critical production situations.

 Education and Experience

  • Associates degree or High School and equivalent experience required
  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing or industrial engineering preferred 
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Quality Assurance documenting, qualifying and analyzing data, preferably in a steel manufacturing environment preferred
  • Knowledge of AISC quality systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge of AWS Welding Code helpful.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, customers, vendors, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
