Job Overview:

 

Hood Container Corporation is seeking a Quality Assurance & Safety Manager to support our Chicago Packaging Services Facility. We’re looking for someone that has a passion for maintaining the safety of our employees and the quality of our products. You will also work closely with the Plant Manager & department leaders to develop and advance Quality & Safety vision and goals and serve as key liaison between customers and the production team. 

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 
Quality Responsibilities: 

  1. Manage the overall plant quality process in accordance with the plant Quality Policy & lead the Quality Control team.
  2. Develop, implement, and train employees on new and existing total quality systems.
  3. Maintain quality standards and quality performance metrics
  4. Collaborate with the Customer Service Manager, Design Manager, and Plant Operations Managers and Supervisors to ensure knowledge of and accountability for customer requirements.
  5. Provide Customer assistance & feedback regarding quality issues, job specifications, and customer products. Create and deliver root cause analysis & follow-ups with customers.
  6. Facilitate all internal regulatory audits for the existing quality and food safety systems: ISO, AIB and others.
  7. Reduce credit dollars and improve efficiency, thereby reducing operating cost.
  8. Develop and publish goals relating to internal and external complaints.
  9. Manage supplier performance audits.

 
Safety Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure all health and safety regulations are met for equipment, machinery, and facility to mitigate risk across the facility.
  • Develop and implement local, state, and federal compliant EHS initiatives.
  • Create and maintain all EHS records & training documentation
  • Lead any investigations of accidents or injuries to find the reason for the incident.
  • Achieve housekeeping goals/objectives for all departments.
  • Conduct periodic internal safety audits and regulatory inspections of facility to ensure compliance with plant, local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Assist with the creation of processes and procedures for all safety requirements.
  • Provide guidance and train employees on EHS practices and regulations.

 

What it Takes:: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Safety, or related field preferred.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience working in Quality or Safety roles
  • Two (2) years’ experience work experience in a leadership role preferred.
  • Experience with continuous and/or process improvement in manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Government or professional training and compliance courses (e.g. OSHA 30-hour training) are preferred.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to work well across different functions to integrate people and business strategies.
  • Agility to effectively manage multiple projects, prioritize accordingly, and thrive in a complex, fast paced work environment.
  • A mindset that balances strategic and systems thinking with operational implementation and execution.
