Job Overview:

Hood Container Corporation is growing company rooted in family values.  We are looking for an engaging leader to join our team as Quality Manager for our converting plant in Walker Michigan. In this role you will play a key role on the leadership team, reporting into the General Manager and work closely with the department managers and supervisors to develop and advance Quality Vision and Goals and serve as a key liaison between customers and the production team. 

How You Will Contribute: 

  • Supervise and manage the Quality Control process for the plant. 
  • Collaborate with the Customer Service Manager, Design Manager, and Plant Operations Managers and Supervisors to ensure knowledge of and accountability for customer requirements. 
  • Develop, enhance, implement, and train new and exciting employees on new and existing quality systems. 
  • Facilitate all internal regulatory audits for the existing quality and food safety systems: SQF, ISO, AIB, and others. 
  • Reduce credit dollars and improve efficiency, thereby reducing operating costs. 
  • Develop and publish goals relating to internal and external customer complaints. 
  • Prepare, communicate, and present weekly, monthly, and quarterly quality management reports as needed. 
  • Manage supplier performance audits. 
  • Collaborate with Sales to create and deliver presentations to new and existing customers. 
  • Evaluate the existing quality systems and propose upgrades or enhancements where appropriate. 
  • Perform weekly, monthly, and quarterly quality audits.

What it Takes:

  • Problem-solving and root cause analysis expert.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to work across distinct functions to integrate people and business strategies. 
  • Must possess the ability to effectively manage multiple projects, prioritize accordingly, and thrive in a complex, fast-paced work environment. 
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification preferred but not required. 
  • Well-versed in process development and improvement.
  • Effective communicator with excellent follow-up and follow-through skills. 
  • Three or more years of corrugated and converting equipment knowledge.
  • Internal/external audit skills.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) is highly desired but not required, but need to be comfortable working with employees where English is not primary language.
