About you and this role:
As a Quality Manager in the Oxygenated Solvents and Amines sector of the Performance Intermediates business within Dow Industrial Solutions you will have GMP accountability for the TCO OXO plant and interactions with downstream third party logistics/supply chain entities. You will lead and execute the business, regional, site and plant/department quality programs as defined in the Manage Product Quality (MPQ) Business Quality Strategy to enable the business to profitably meet customer and product regulatory requirements related to the quality management system, and to enhance the front-line knowledge and accountability for quality performance. Additionally, you coordinate, coach and actively promote the Plant Quality programs, required to achieve Quality goals and customer satisfaction. The responsibilities are for all products and sub-products produced in the Texas City OXO plant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain the business/site quality programs which align to the MPQ Business Quality Strategy at the plant level.
- Provide an effective interface between customers and the plant to ensure consistent high quality service to customers. Represent the “Voice of Customer” at the plant.
- Act as key plant interface to build or enhance relationships, services and flow of information between the plant and the customer, purchasing, supply chain, research, product stewardship and commercial organization related to the product quality / regulatory requirements related to the quality management system.
- Ensure that product returns and non-conforming product are appropriately managed to prevent unintended use, including disposition.
- Monitor the effectiveness of the quality management system and communicate improvement opportunities to leadership. For example, raw material quality and supplier assessments, etc.
- Generate and use quality data (customer complaints, plant metrics etc.) to enable cross functional partners to drive product quality improvements.
- Lead and participate in management of change reviews that potentially impact product quality (e.g. specification, train qualifications, plant equipment / systems, analytical testing, etc).
- Lead Food Safety Teams in TCO. Lead FAMI-QS team in TCO.
- Ensure plant Operating Discipline systems, procedures and guidelines meet quality system requirements, as appropriate (e.g. Good Manufacturing Practices for FAMI-QS, FIFRA, and Direct & Indirect Food contact, ISO 9001).
- Serve as element focal point for the quality requirements of the Operating Discipline Management System.
- Develop a thorough understanding of current Good Manufacturing Practices for Feed, FIFRA, indirect food contact, and direct food contact.
- Train and provide guidance to plant and other roles that impact product quality (e.g. laboratory, maintenance, logistics, etc) on customer and product regulatory requirements, and the use of quality supporting tools and processes to achieve plant and business goals.
- Identify and lead improvement opportunities as determined through data analysis, customer audits, Six Sigma projects, and other quality-related programs.
- Host customer and other quality related external party, including regulatory agencies (FDA, Dept of Health & Hospitals), visits and audits, in cooperation with Commercial and other functions.
- Lead / champion product quality problem solving efforts (i.e. Corrective Action Management Process, the Root Cause Investigation Process, including customer feedback, etc).
- Establish and manage the plant quality system audit program, in conjunction with Business or Site strategies
- Conduct audits of plants, labs, terminals, warehouses, contract manufacturers, distributors, suppliers, customers, etc. to ensure customer needs are met. Leverage findings to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead or participate in the review of plant and cross functional projects having a potential impact on product quality.
- Work with business and plant personnel to introduce new products as part of the product qualification process.
- Ensure quality systems tools (e.g. computer) are validated throughout the plant quality architecture.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E5 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant.
- A minimum of 6 or more years’ relevant experience.
- Must be willing and able to travel up to 15% annually and meet all applicable requirements related to business travel (e.g., as to immigration and visa rules, public-health mandates, airline rules, etc.) into and out of (and physical presence in) various countries world wide.
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry or equivalent.
- Experience with cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) for Food, Animal Feed and cosmetics is highly preferred.
- ISO 9001:2,015 experience.
- Two years or more experience in GMP roles, especially excipient or direct food GMP, is highly preferred.
Your Skills:
Quality Management Expertise: Deep understanding of quality systems, standards, and regulatory requirements, with the ability to lead and improve quality programs across complex operations. Knowledge or experience with SAP/LIMS.
Leadership and Change Management: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive quality improvement initiatives, and manage change related to product trials, product updates, and product quality.
Customer Focus and Communication: Strong communication skills to represent the “Voice of the Customer,” build relationships, and ensure alignment between customer needs and internal processes.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze quality data, identify trends, and lead advanced problem-solving efforts to improve product quality.
Training and Coaching: Experience in providing expert guidance, training, and consultation to teams on quality tools, systems, and best practices.
Audit and Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with internal and third-party audit processes, and the ability to lead audit programs and ensure compliance with quality standards. Experience with product safety regulatory requirements, cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices), and ISO 9001.
