RMS Inc. is looking for a Quality Manager to join our team. The Quality Manager – Houston oversees the Quality department at RMS Houston Repair Shops – Mepco and Pearland Works, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, customer requirements, and industry standards. The role also supports Breaux Machine and other Houston shops as needed, particularly during customer audits, ISO audits, and supplier evaluations.
This role is a key leader in quality assurance, supplier quality, and continuous improvement efforts, ensuring that RMS delivers high-quality products and services while driving process efficiency. The Quality Manager will collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, and Senior Management to maintain and improve quality performance across Houston-based operations.
JOB SUMMARY
Key Responsibilities:
1. Quality Assurance & Control
- Lead and manage the QMS for RMS Mepco and Pearland Works, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 and internal quality standards.
- Provide support to Breaux Machine and other RMS Houston locations as needed for customer audits, ISO audits, and supplier quality matters.
- Oversee inspection and testing processes for incoming materials, in-process production, and final product verification.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) processes to address nonconformances and drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure proper documentation and traceability of quality activities, including material certifications, inspection records, and test reports.
- Work closely with Engineering and Operations to improve manufacturability, reduce rework, and enhance process control.
2. Supplier Quality & Compliance
- Define and enforce supplier quality requirements, working closely with Supply Chain and Purchasing.
- Conduct supplier audits and evaluations to ensure compliance with RMS quality standards.
- Develop supplier performance metrics and drive corrective action plans to improve quality and reliability.
- Support supplier qualification and disqualification processes based on performance and risk assessments.
3. Process Improvement & Standardization
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
- Standardize work instructions, quality procedures, and best practices across RMS Houston sites.
- Support RMS’s digital transformation strategy by integrating quality processes into enterprise systems.
- Analyze quality performance data and trends to drive proactive improvements and risk mitigation.
4. Audit & Compliance Leadership
- Serve as the primary quality representative for customer audits, ISO audits, and regulatory inspections at Mepco and Pearland Works.
- Ensure that audit findings and nonconformances are properly addressed with corrective actions and long-term solutions.
- Maintain audit readiness across Houston sites and ensure compliance with ISO 9001 requirements.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on quality standards, compliance, and best practices.
5. Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead and mentor quality inspectors, auditors, and technicians across RMS Houston facilities.
- Foster a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Senior Leadership to align on quality objectives and operational goals.
- Communicate quality performance, key metrics, and improvement initiatives to the Director of QHSE and executive leadership.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in Quality Management, Quality Assurance, or Quality Control in a manufacturing or repair shop environment.
- Experience with rotating equipment, turbomachinery, or precision machining preferred.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, customer audits, and regulatory compliance.
- Hands-on experience with supplier quality management, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective action processes (CAPA).
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience leading and managing Quality personnel in a manufacturing or repair shop setting.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management software.
- Ability to lead continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing initiatives.
Additional Requirements:
- Travel:
- Up to 20% travel may be required for supplier audits, customer audits, and corporate meetings.
- Physical and Other Requirements:
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods in a shop environment.
- The position will be based full time in RMS Inc.Houston facilities.
- Evening and weekends depending on company needs.
- Able to understand, read, write, and speak English proficiently.
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and background check
- Ability and willingness to lift objects weighing up to 30 lbs., 50 lbs with assistance,
- Ability to walk, climb, reach above head, and balance.
- This position will be required to participate in the company random drug and alcohol screening policy.
- Work Environment:
- Office and shop environment with exposure to machining operations, moving mechanical parts, and moderate noise levels.
- Eligibility:
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and pass pre-employment background checks and drug screenings.
- Due to the nature of this position - requires individual to be clear of all felonies on background check
